This small zoo houses a somewhat bedraggled collection of Cameroonian wildlife, mainly monkeys and apes, in somewhat cramped and rundown quarters. It is a good place to see a variety of local fauna, and the management is probably doing the best it can with a limited budget, but it is nevertheless a rather depressing scene. Travelers with access to more commodious zoos at home might want to skip this one, but it no doubt provides a valuable service for local children and school groups.

Not far from the city center lies the attractive Limbe Botanical Garden, which houses a considerable collection of native plants and trees. Besides being a required stop for naturalists, the quiet and beautiful garden offers a respite from the noise and disorder of the street. It's really an idyllic place to spend a couple of hours. You can take a self guided tour, and there is a little used snack bar around a bend in the entrance road with a view of the ocean.
