Le Plaisir du Gout: new so good restaurant

by PhilippeD

Crevettes, crevettes and Prawns

by Wafro

Cameroon is known for its delicious prawns, even the country’s name is related to the prawns. Camarão is the Portuguese word for prawn.Along the coastline you’ll find many places where you can eat them, never pay more than 3000 cfa.

Garrisons Restaurant: Best restaurant in Belo

by lovin_it

Garrison's restaurant is in the centre of Belo 3 corners village and has beautiful decor, views and food. The cook Brgit is extremely friendly and the prices are good. They serve everything from local plates for 200 cfa to international dishes at 1,500 cfa. Brigits home made 'hot pot'

XXXXXX...many: Poulet Ndolé

by Wafro

The best Ndole I’ve eaten in Nanga Eboko and Douala. You can find it in many restaurants. Or you should ask the Mama to prepare it, if somebody invites you for dinner.Ndole is a spinach like vegetable mixed with groundnuts and this in combination with roasted chicken…DELICIOUS!!!

La Cassarole: Rhumsiki, open-air restaurant and bar

by sachara

Just nearby Auberge Le Kapsiki in Rhumsiki is its restaurant and bar La Cassarole. It's a rather cool place to sit during the day for a drink (pamplemousse is my favourite softdrink in Cameroon) , a snack or lunch. For dinner they make sometimes a buffet of the ordered dishes. A meal costs about 2.500 CFA. From the open air restaurant (roofed, but no windows) you have a nice view at the mainroad, the little shops and a part of the daily life in the village.

Classy Burger: Kumba eats

by rslyons99

The owner of Classy Burger, Moses, describes it as "McDonald's for Africa." I think he's going a bit far, but it was one of my favorite places in Kumba. Moses used to live in the States, has endless tales of his years in the US and the comparison to Cameroon, and loves to entertain travelers. The food is all homemade, but somehow they have figured out how to grind beef, make rolls, procure cheese, and put together a pretty good cheeseburger. Add in some other American-style dishes like fried chicken and cheese sandwiches, plus local favorites like grilled fish and spaghetti omelettes, and this place is great. Fried chicken, hands down. The hamburgers are good, but if it's been months since you had Western food go for the chicken.

Bamenda has several great restaurants. If you want a great view, get the pepe soup at the Handicraft Cooperative on the hill (1200 CFA). Another favorite of locals and ex-pats is Gracies, near the main market entrance on Commercial Ave. It's tough to beat their big omelettes for 800 CFA, but be prepared to wait (and sweat in the cramped quarters) for an hour or more. There are countless rice, bean, and puff-puff stalls around the city. All of them are great, and I'll always miss a 150 franc plate of rice and beans, burning with pepe.

Tons of great restaurants around the country. Here are a sampling:Limbe -- Grilled fish at "Down Beach" next to the Red Cross. Watch the fishermen haul'em out of the sea and toss'em on the grill. Be careful with the pepe--it'll burn your mouth! (1 fish = 1500 francs)Kumba -- Classy Burger. If you get a hankering for a burger, go here. Moses used to live in the States, now he has brought fast food to Africa. He grinds his own beef, slices his own potatoes, and bakes his own buns. (Cheeseburger = 900 CFA)

(2001)-Street food at Omnisport Texaco station. For 200 or 300 francs you can get a heaping plate of rice and beans, koki, grilled fish, plantains, burned corn, etc. All the food is good, hot, and cheap!-L'Atlantique or Chez Woo. Located across the street from each other in ex-pat heavy Bastos quarter, these are two of the best restaurants in the country. I like the pepper steak at Atlantique. Also check out the 9000 CFA Sunday buffet at Chez Woo.

You'll find good French and Lebanese food in Cameroon. But do try the local food ... it is GOOD. Although we found it rather on the hot side .. so make sure you take plenty of bottled water with you when you eat out. Spicy chicken is great. Served with plantains or cassava. Plantains can be a bit 'dry' but there is usually plenty of sauce.
