In Portugal this place is known for the old prison, that used to serve the old portuguese regimen, where the political prisoners were tortured sometimes til death.
Tarrafal has a beautiful beach and near it there's some traditional restaurants.
I've spent an entire day in this place. Saw the fisherman preparing they're nets in the morning ... had a great meal in a restaurant with a view over the beach ... and layed down under the sun during the afternoon... very relaxing..

This is the main island in Cape Vert and where the country capital is, Cidade da Praia. It's possible to see some old colonial constructions and the portuguese trace still exists.
