North of Palmeira was this little funny shelter in the middle of the desert near Buracona.
Near Buracona is the Olho Azul (blue eye).
You can see the sun shining for only two hours a day on the seawater deep down, through a oval hole in the basaltrock.

From Espargos leads a unpaved road to the north. This part of the island looks like a desert plain.
After 6 KMs you can turn left to the west coast. The westcoast is scenic, rough and vulcanic.
From there is a track to the south to Palmeira.
