Situated right in front of the beach in Santa Maria, next to the hotel Leme Bedje, this snack bar serves not only snacks but daily specials including local Cape Verdean cuisine or international.
Relaxing atmosphere with great service and a cheery smile, it was nice to chill with a cold beer and take in the spectacular view.
Favorite Dish: Mexican chicken wrap, spicy yet delicious! The tortilla wraps are made on the premises daily with a choice of fillings, even vegetarian. Lots of choice, either toasties or snacks. Ideal for a light lunch as only open daily till 5pm, so great to pop in for a quick bite before heading to the beach.

A wonderful mix of Italian and Capeverdian dishes cooked by the nicest girl I've met during this trip. Alberto and Anna, two Italians created this restaurant and now they have "sold for free" the quotes of the society/cooperative to these girls.
They have traditional capeverdian dishes like cachupa and buxio and Italian plates like homemade pasta. They also make their own cheese, ice cream and more.
Favorite Dish: Cachupa (four varieties of beans, fish, egg and tuna sausage).

This is a very modest restaurant , but it serves the best "cachupa" in Sal Island. The "cachupa" is a typical Cape Verde dish , a stew made with meats, vegetables, corn and different kinds of beans. It's delicious and this restaurant is the place to taste it.
Favorite Dish: The Cachupa!

Address: Santa Maria do Sal
In Santa Maria do Sal, the main village, there are a few restaurants, though you don't have many options to choose from. Restaurants are all very modest but they serve fresh fish and seafood. Don't miss the lobster here, as it's very inexpensive and really good. It's one of the main dishes for tourists.

This restaurant, besides its wonderful location on the beach serves great grilled fish and seafood. Fish is always fresh here and you can see it being prepared. They also have a tuna carpaccio which is delicious. Service can be a bit slow, but then, you're in Africa....!
Favorite Dish: Tuna carpacio, grilled tuna beef and grilled lobster.

Restaurants on these islands are more or less ok if you have a tough stomach. Consider that on Boavista local people do not use purified water to drink and they have no problem at all ... but I wouldn't suggest you to go for the same :-)
Same story applies for local restaurants: for sure it's the best way to appreciate local food but be ready with some "stoppers" in the case you catch some small guys :-)))
Favorite Dish: Of course fish is king ... and if you are used to europena prices ... be ready for surprises :-)

also in Sal rei there's a restaurant with this really nice terrace and fab food, and a really nice portuguese lady running it. :)
Can't rememeber the name, but the village is small. The pier i'm talking about is near Hotel Dunas.

Nice & almost new restaurant on Sal Island; it's run by a german couple with local people help.
Favorite Dish: Always trust people there and follow their suggestions; fresh fish of the day is always present since they're fisherman on themselves.
It's also possible to go out for fishing with them and eat what you fish in the evening.

Restaurant SODADE (Mindelo)
This restaurant situated in the heart of Mindelo (Sao Vicente Island) offer several kinds of delicious fish and the very known cachupa.
Here you have a fantastic view over Mindelo and its bay. You may even hear 'morna'(Cape Verde Music) coming from some dancing clubs nearby.
It is also a Boarding House with nice and clean rooms.
Favorite Dish: CACHUPA and Grilled Bica

It was defenatly the restaurant called 'Piscador'.
It's a normal restaurant. A restaurant to eat. Seafood in cape Verde is as expensive as any other dish of fish or meat. Whilst I was there, I had seafood everyday.
At that time, a dish of lobster with french fries, was about $10/$15.
Favorite Dish: Grilled Lobster and the ' Cachupa '.
Cachupa here is delicious. Cachupa is made of several meats. Vegetables, banana and ' tapioca ' cooked where the meats were cooked. Red Beans and wine... Portuguese wine.
Grilled lobsters are usually small and tasty. One lobster for each person. Grilled in charcoal with a special garlic sauce on top.
And fresh fish... lots of fresh fish dishes.
