Watch the sunset!

by tere1

The sunset in Sal Island was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I used to go to the beach or sit at the beach front bar of the hotel and watch it while having a drink and before getting ready for dinner. It was a really amazing and helped me feel even more relaxed!

Kite/Wind/Surfing

by tere1

Sal's beach front area offers one of the best Kite and Wind Surfing environments in the world. With pure turquoise waters ranging in temperature from 21 to 29 celsius, it is a surfing haven. With an off-shore wind at the beginning of the bay and a slight on-shore wind at the end of the bay it is perfect location for both beginners and experts.Sal continues to be rated as one of the World’s top class surfing destinations, as it has been gifted with tropical winds from November to June and a tropical climate all year around.

Scuba Diving

Explore Sal Island’s amazing underwater world. The Scubateam Diving Club was founded 10 years ago and has all of the necessary equipment. It is run by PADI certified instructors, offers two outings per day, and diving courses for all levels; from beginners to Divemaster.

Deep Fishing

by tere1

Go deep fishing in the sea. The hotels can arrange that for you, you will have a great experience. For fishing amateurs, Sal Island is the ideal place. There’s a vast variety of fish. Fishing is generally successful in all the techniques, but much more exciting in the high seas - only for the sportier individuals, obviously. When I was there we went fishing with the locals early in the morning and we had a great time and also had the opportunity to interact with them.

Strech out at the beach!

by tere1

The beach in Sal Island is really great, with turquoise water. There is also always much sun so one of the best things to do when you are in Sal is to stretch out, sunbathe and unwind on the comfortable beach chairs.Don't forget to use a high sun protector because the sun is really hot there and it can burn!

Train your archery skills!

by tere1

The Archery Range features high quality bows and arrows. If you have never tried it...this is an excellent opportunity. Instructors are standing by to show you how. It's a nice and fun way to spend your time and train your skills.

Water sports

by tere1

Usually all beachfront resorts have facilities for parasailing, windsurfing, scuba diving and other water sports. You can also go fishing, your hotel can arrange that for you.Sal island doesn't have many things to do, but the beach is great and sports and water sports are your best bets to spend some fun times.

M/S Vistafjord anchored in the bay

by globetrott

Only small ships may enter the port in the Cap Verde Islands. Therefore we had to stay outside and anchor in the bay. To go ashore, we had to make the transfer by our tender-boats with a capacity of around 100 persons per tender.Passengers are of course always taken first and crew-members had to wait for about half an hour, before they are allowed to leave the ship.In the evening the crew has to be back half an hour before the last tender for the passengers are leaving the port. That fact does not leave the crew a lot of time to go ashore...On my picture : our ship M/S Vistafjord anchored in the bay, seen from the tenderboat.Today this ship of Cunard is called "M/S Caronia"

Praia & Mindelo

by stigel

Most people who visit the Cape Verde Islands limit themselves to only staying on Ilha do Sal, it's great for swimming and relaxing but there is not a whole lot else to see or do... The local airline TACV has a domestic network that is relatively reliable (by African standards), making it easy to visit any of the other islands even for only a couple of days. I really recommend going to either Praia or Mindelo to experience what life is like in a Cape Verdean city and escaping the package tourism atmosphere that is taking over Sal.

A: Mindelo is in my opinion the most attractive town in Cape Verde. Nice town by the sea with colonial buildings and a pretty decent local nightlife.
