Probably the cheapest way from Europe is to use flights of national carrier TACV. Lisbon and Amsterdam has best fares. If flying there by TACV you are able to buy 3-5 flights airpass for jumping from island to island (50 euro a jump). To enter Santo Antao use ferry departingdaily at 8 am from Mindelo/Sao Vincente and returning at 11 am (some days additional departs at 3 pm)

The best way to travel to Cape Verde from Bissau is with Tap Air. You'll be there faster than swimming... :-DI believe that sharks are common in this islands so better take a plane... :-PBy car no problem to get around Sal Island. Is a desertic Island. I remembered Phoenix and Tucson when I saw it!

Sal is the only island with an international airport. Most tourist arrive and stay in Sal - that's ok if you are coming only for windsufring but if you want to see the counrty and the beauty of the other islands you have to take another flight. The inhabitet islands are all connected by plane. Small plane, the so called Twin Otters (a 50seater turbo prop) are very usefull, fast and comfortable. The flight plan is really good. Most islands have departures several times a day.pic shows: view from a Twin Otter on the island of Fogo. As you can see the whole island is the volcano with the same name.

the cheapest way is to take a flight with hotel from Italy and then try to add free weeks. direct fly from Bergamoplane is the best way.if you have a lot of time..ship is an adventure on his own.At the TACV office don't forget to take a number, or you will wait for hours !

Hiace

by Luisilva

Don?t use taxis, their are expensive. You can ask for "Hiace", its a common transport, very cheap, and you travel with the locals.

Must rent a 4x4

by ginguba

You should rent a 4x4 car, so you can explore the island. You only have 2 or 3 actual roads, the rest are all like "goat-paths"!

A: Mindelo is in my opinion the most attractive town in Cape Verde. Nice town by the sea with colonial buildings and a pretty decent local nightlife.
