Fishing plays a big part in the lifes of a lot of the people who live around the lagoon, some of the villages are cut off by road during the rainy season and rely on the boats from Abidjan trading comodities in exchange for fish

The fruit here is just amazing. Seeing mountains of pineapples can only take your breath away. Try any of the local banana based dishes (fried banana chips or mashed plantain). Also try the red drink in the plastic bag that is being sold at every street corner. Eat lots of fresh fruit while you are here - mangos, pineapples and bananas were my stable diet. The meat is a bit off-putting. One delicacy is fried snail. This is no ordinary snail but a huge creature that gets poked back into its shell by hungry hands, then pulled out then squeezed clean or all innards. Fried on top of chips. Also brain is quite popular as is bush rat. If anyway particular about your food I suggest avoiding meat and trying to stick with chicken when possible.
