Rope Bridge

by canuckmike

Not exactly a "must see activity" but it is on here because it is right next to la cascade. There is supposed to be a special reason to cross the rope bridge but I cannot think of it. Actually it was kinda of dangerous because some ropes were snapping as I was crossing it. I don't know if it is still there but it is worth crossing if it is in good condition and you are at la cascade.

La Cascade

by canuckmike

A nice looking waterfall that is a good place to rest for a bit. I was there in the dry season so the falls weren't as impressive as they are during the rainy season but it still has a nice rock formation. It's in a nice forest and you can climb to the top for some nice views. You can also wade around the pool at the base of the waterfall too.

Tribal Villages

by canuckmike

There are plenty of tribal villages around the area of Man. They are used to tourists so it is usually no problem getting let in. It will cost you a little bit of money but that's no big deal. You will also have someone cook you a meal as well. I'm pretty sure you can have someone hook you up in Man on a tour as well.

La Cite des 18 Montagnes

by canuckmike

I was told that the city of Man was also known as 'la cite des 18 montagnes' (city of 18 mountains) which is certainly true. Who ever decided to have a city at this location knows what he/she is doing, it is a truly photogenic area. It's an excellent place to stroll around and look at all the mask shops that are well stocked. It is also a good base to explore the nearby villages from.

Grand Bassam

by sachara

The buildings of the colonial era in Grand Bassam are built between 1894 and 1920. All these buildings are in the old section of the town near the water. It is a pity, but many buildings are in various stages of decay. Some are restored like the governorshouse (now a museum) an the townhall.

St Pauls Cathedral, window

by sachara

I entered the cathedral. From the inside I had a look at the the colourfull windows, telling the stories of the bible. And of course the people on the images have black faces. You have to go inside the cathedral to see the brightness of the colours.

Abidjan, St Pauls Cathedral

Because I had to wait till the Musée National(where you can find art objects as statues, masks, pottery, bronze and ivory) after the lunch break was opened again, I visited in the meantime on my way to the museum this modern cathedral with its futurist shape. It was the St Pauls Cathedral.

After travelling in the northern areas, in the bush, wherw the local people use of a lot of natural materials and colours, there couldn't be a bigger contrast. At Le Plateau in the centre of Abidjan you see many modern buildings with a lot of glass...
