    Waterproofs a good idea

    Good waterproof walking Boots.
Light waterproof trousers and jacket, tuck trousers into boots.
Gloves are a good idea to protect hands from sharp branches or stinging plants and the damp

    Yellow Fever jab compulsory
    Antihistamine for stings
    Antiseptic for scratches
    Wet wipes for freshening

You can't use a flash so slow film or digital camera that has slow speed facility. And a really good zoom lense in case you can't get very close or if the gorillas are up in the trees.
Binoculars to get a better view.

The vegetation is very thick and damp, and you will sometimes be crawling or holding on to it.
As a female with a dislike of creepy crawlies I made sure I was completely covered and that nothing could get inside my clothes. There are also some plants that are not good to touch.

Light and warm for chilly nights/mornings and hot days. Change is quite dramatic going up mountains and coming down to lakes again. Sturdy boots highly recomended at times slippers will do as well. Raincoat or similar.

Everything you deem necessary and could not be bothered to hunt for on local markets.

Same as above. Film was quite expensive then.

Sleeping bag all seasons. Selfinflatable airmattres.

French dictionary or phrasebook if your french is too rusty. It's my only time I make this suggestion but here I deem it necessary as it can get you out of troubles. See also warnings and you'll know why. So it's not just for conversation about the weather.

For gorillas treking the small bag is recommended. as you can walk 1hour to locate gorilla in the park.

Don?t forget a light raincoat, as you will be in a rain forest for gorillas trekking, and good walking shoes, socks and a hat. To avoid stinging nettles, garden gloves are recommended

A light sweater for the evenings is recommended and generally long sleeves and trousers worn to keep the mosquitoes away.

If you swim, bring your swimming costume, the main hotels in DRC all have swimming pools.

    A torch is recommended olso.
About credit cards very few places in drc accept either credit cards or traveller's checks. bringing dollars notes its wise.

The only one you will need for Congo is Yellow Fever. and dont forget to see your doctor about malaria precautions. Dont drink water from the taps. You will be able to get bottled water wherever you go in many shops.

    Camera and film

Bring both camera and film, and plenty of batteries.
