inside the restaurant

Big place with a big terrasse.
Very usefull place to organise appointments.
Located just in front of Central station it's impossible to miss it

The permanent Boss is Greek and it's name TAKIS. If he is short of UZO he ll drink a very pleasant "Edwards" whisky

Favorite Dish: I often go there at noon and then i mainly eat sandwiches there, but the other cooking is good too.

It's open non stop from 11 a.m. to late in the nignt ; the kitchen is open non stop from 11 a.m. to ... something like 10 p.m.
You ll meet there europeans and congolese in a very clean place, for the five o'clock "beer".
The first boss, a belgian of course, stayed in place for more than 17 years. He sold the restaurant to another belgian coming from Ivory Coast : Michel. Michel is, for the moment, associated with Marc
What special here :
- you no more in Kinshasa without beeing in an impersonnel place ;
- you ll find "like home cooking" (european meaning) and also things like "choucroute" or "couscous"

Favorite Dish: The change of the owner destroyed the quality of cooking
It's a pitty

3615: Look at the girls

Hey man, You have to go there if you're single (legally or localy). It's open from +/- 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Biggest terrace and the best place for the start of the night. partially terrace, partially veranda, You can have little snacks or pizza with the local beers (SKOL, PRIMUS & MÜTZIG) or all the drinks you can imagine.
The street vendors can propose you what you can need and find pretty and cheap girls for keeping company or more to you .....

Favorite Dish: As PRIMUS or SKOL beer is served per 1/2 liter bottle, I used to make an orignal mix.
If you are two friends try to order 1 Sprite and 1 bottle of beer. In your glass you put 1/4 or 1/3 of sprite and you complete with beer.

Mainly, the open terrase. It was the first time I had the impression I were on holiday place.
The food is excellent.

I went there, at least 6 time since the beginning of 2006, always with friends (europeans and congolese) and everybody was very happy and satisfied.
Rare in Congo, you can pay with your Mastercard...

If you go inside the house, its the gastranomy restaurant but there, I heard the prices are astronomics.

You know, the owner, whose is also the chief cooker is a frenchie, than good cooking, very good.

Favorite Dish: I recommand the "filet pur" something better that sirloin - 220 g + sauce and frites for 18 usd.
The "entrecôte" (the t-bone without the "T") 250 gr same conditions

It's the lonely place I found in Kinshasa wher I can go and lunch in less than one hour.
Every day you have the choose between 4 possibilities in the menu wit one glass of local drinks for 10 usd.
And it is very correct
Do not arrive after a quarteter ot one pm, you will risk to find no place

Lubumbashi Central Square

I remember on our drive back to Zambia from Kolwezi, we stopped at a hotel in Likasi for lunch. The dishes and utensils were all set out on the tables but required a little dusting before we could use them. The restaurant did not seem very busy but the food seemed to be quite satisfactory when it came. All visits from northern Zambia had to pass through the city of Lubumbashi - this photo shows its central square (with its large Post Office in the background) on what seemed to be a quiet Africa Freedom Day weekend on May 25, 1973 !
