Kinshasa Restaurants

  • Caf' Conc' top class in Kinshasa

If you want to remember gastronomy when you are living a long time in Africa, this restaurant is perfect. When you are inside, you don't remember you are in Africa. Menu is not very extended but in few dishes you taste the best of the French new cuisine, all ingredients being imported. Take the menu trilogy: you choose three plates with each time...

  • nice when everyone wants something...

This place is nice for takeaway when everyone wants something different. They do pizza, burgers and fried chicken. 1 pizza, a double burger and 4 pieces of fried chicken cost about US$25 so not all that cheap but couldn't complain about the food.

  • Great Indian food

Service is fast - food is fresh and tasty. The menu said Aloo Mutter, I asked for Aloo Mutter Gobi and they said no problem. We went back twice.Dinner for three including drinks was about US$40.Apparently this place is also a hotel, although I didn't see the rooms Aloo Mutter Gobi, Chicken Mahknie, vegetable rice

Kinshasa Transportation

  • Never use HEWA BORA

The worse company ever. Not allowed to land in Europe any longer. If you have to travel to and fro Kinshasa or Lubumbashi, never use Hewa Bora, you might never arrive alive. Planes are not maintained, they crashes. Once I had to lose two days in Mbuji-Mayi because the plane had a problem and had to land in emmergency. It is cheaper and safer to use...

  • n'Djili Airport

Until recently, landing in Kinshasa was a real adventure. There was no security and it was not possible to go from the plane to outside the airport without so many problems that you wanted to go back to the plane. It was highly recommended to have a protocole waiting for you, dealing with immigration for you and takingcare of your baggage. Today,...

Kinshasa Shopping

  • Cheap Beer

Our hotel didn't seem to have a problem with us bringing our own beer into the hotel rooms and since the hotel price of US$7 per bottle was a bit excessive we saved ourselves a small fortune by buying beer from the side of the road at the end of every day.Look out for the informal pubs on the side of the roads, you can see the beer branding painted...

  • 1st world store at 1st world prices

Every third world city needs the good old expat store and this is it. Prices are high but you can get all the luxuries. It's tempting to buy the beer from here especially if you've just arrived and baulked at the hotel prices, but you're not saving yourself much cash. If it's beer you want get it take away from the side of the road at 600CF...

  • Travels in dangerous places

You must go to a footbal match!! First impressions of Kinshasa - Flying over the DRC, the first impression is one of immensity. We flew first to Lubumbashi, in the southeast corner, adjacent to the Zambian border. Lubumbashi appeared at a quick glance to be a medium sized regional centre, though I am told the population is over 2 million.Flying...
