Giza Pyramids, Egypt, December 2006 by jumpingnorman I was fortunate to go to Egypt on the first week of December, when the temperature was not too hot, and not too cold - just right. My interests were to see the ancient temples around Luxor and Aswan, and these places which are south of Cairo are unbearable during summer, from June to August (SCORCHING HOT, over 40 degrees Celsius). That said, the best time to go to Egypt to see the famous temples is from December to January, during the winter months - naturally this is also the high tourist season, but understandably so. However, around Cairo, there may be overcast skies and cold nights during wintertime. Furthermore, when going to the beaches, people might prefer to go during the summer months when the desire is for bathing under the sun. Others suggest spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) as the "compromising" months for seeing Egypt in "General" or for an over-all-of Egypt tour, but still with the best for south of Cairo still from DECEMBER TO JANUARY. But no matter what, just going to Egypt is a euphoria pill in itself and you might not even mind the heat! Leave a Comment

Egypt modern and ancient? by Kuznetsov_Sergey It is considered that before the intrusion of Napoleon into Egypt in 1798 this country had been appreciably closed for Europeans. The rapid development of the Egyptology began with the Egyptian campaign of Napoleon. There are some pieces of evidence of Arabs about Egypt and its riches in IX - XIV centuries which today in their majority are admitted fantastic. Scientists believe, that the earliest sensible reasonings on Egypt started to appear in Europe only from the end of the XV century. In 1707 the Jesuit Claude Sikar was directed as a missionary by the king of France to Cairo with the task to make the plan of antiquities of Egypt. It is considered, that he had ancient Greek books of Strabon and Diodor and he could define an arrangement of Thebes. The name of Egypt The name of Egypt was not known to inhabitants of Nile when first Europeans came there. Jews named it Mitzraim, Assyrians named it Mitzur, Persians named it Mudraja. It is considered that Copts - Christian inhabitants of Egypt gave the modern name of this country: Copt, Gipt, Egypt.

I was used not to exchange money in the airport as the FX rate is lower than the normal one, but I found in Cairo airport the same FX rate as in all the FX offices around Egypt. So feel free to exchange money there as it's better to go around with local money instead of foreign currency.

Egyptian Zodiacs by Kuznetsov_Sergey Russian scientists Fomenko and Nosovsky managed to decipher completely well-known Egyptian Zodiacs - the astronomical images carrying in dates of the "ancient" Egyptian history. Zodiacs which were silent during hundreds years have started talking at last. Behind their mysterious symbolics as it has appeared a lot of interesting. These are data on time of construction of ancient temples, on years of death of great pharaohs and many other things. The discovered picture of dating was amazing - Ancient Egypt has appeared the MEDIEVAL COUNTRY. The majority calculated on Zodiacs dates of Ancient Egypt gets in the XII-XIII centuries. Research, decoding and dating of Egyptian Zodiacs make the base of the scientifically-proved chronology of Ancient Egypt. Monuments of Ancient Egypt carry numerous traces medieval and, moreover, - Christian origin. Guides try as a rule to hide such things from the tourists coming to Egypt in plenties. Not only to have a rest, but also to join the Egyptian antiquities. Possibly, some Egyptian officials believe, that the "inconvenient" truth about Ancient Egypt can disappoint visitors and to lower their interest to Egypt. If it is so - they are mistaken. On the contrary - Ancient Egypt in a view of new datings and a new sight becomes even more interesting and attractive to foreigners. Fomenko page (in Russian) Fomenko book (in English)

Egypt - Sphinx by Kuznetsov_Sergey First schemes of the Egyptian chronology have been based on a study of ancient Egyptian historian Manethon who lived ostensibly in the III century B.C. His work has not reached us in the original. He is known from late Christian sources. He made lists of pharaohs and grouped them in 30 dynasties. Then he has assumed, that pharaohs reigned all consistently, that is one after another. He counted up duration of the Egyptian state and received 5-6 thousand years. So a "long" chronology of Egypt was created which long dominated over science. Most likely the primary rough scheme of the Egyptian history was created within the limits of Christian tradition. The history of ancient Egypt was written originally by Egyptian Christian monks in the monasteries. Then a number of scientists (E.Majer) assumed that pharaohs reigned simultaneously and the chronology was truncated on 2 thousand years. So a "short" chronology of Egypt appeared. The most known written sources on history of Egypt are written in the Greek language. These are "History of the Greece-Persian war" by Herodotus, "Historical library" by Diodorus Cronus, "Geography" by Strabon and "About Osiris and Izida" by Plutarchus. Besides that chronicles of the Egyptian priest Manethon of Sebennytos are known (is Greek), whence names and dynasties of pharaohs were taken from. Manethon of Sebennytos

Egyptian Concrete by Kuznetsov_Sergey Egyptologists do not see, that the overwhelming majority of blocks of the Egyptian pyramids are executed from concrete! For producing of concrete it is enough to pound limestone which is available in Giza in a plenty. Usually powder is dried, but in conditions of Egypt there is no necessity to make it. Then the dry powder was filled in the form, simply the box which had been hammered together from boards. The box was filled in with water and the powder mixed up. After drying particles of powder were fastened with each other. After a while the solution finally stiffened and turned to a stone. It was Egyptian concrete. The French chemist Joseph Davidovits has put forward this idea several tens years ago. You may find his own page here . (thanks Jean-Louis!) Concrete is the artificial stone created from crushed and specially prepared rock, cement. It can be soft enough, as sandstone. Such concrete was applied at construction of pyramids. Concrete of pyramids can be picked open easily with a penknife. But, it appears, artificial concrete can be more firmer then concrete we used to see. Joseph Davidovits has found out it can be so firm, as granite or diorite. And thus it may be practically indistinguishable from them. You can get acquainted with his theory here. According to Joseph Davidovits the geopolymeric concrete discovered by him does not demand for manufacturing neither high-temperature processing, nor modern technologies. Geopolymeric concrete is practically indistinguishable from a natural stone. The important component of such concrete was silt from Nile containing aluminium oxide. Carbonic sodium is accessible in plenties in Egyptian deserts and lakes.

Egypt - Khufu Pyramid by Kuznetsov_Sergey It is considered that Egyptian pyramids were made of monolithic stone blocks which had been cut down in stone quarries. They had been transported on significant distances and were lifted upwards and laid against each other by not so clear way. Height of pyramid Khufu is 137 meters. However sizes and height such megalithic constructions of ancient Egypt go in the contradiction with building opportunities of ancient builders. For this reason different theories are thought out to explain how huge blocks were transported and then ostensibly rose on such height. It is assumed as if thousands and thousands slaves worked on stone quarries, cutting down monoliths in weight from 2,5 up to 15 tons, and then pulled them on "sledges" to a site. And then by means of "smart" elevating machines (pure imaginations of modern painters) or by means of huge inclined embankments of sand these multiton blocks were dragged on height of many tens meters. Some blocks in the basis of a pyramid weigh about 500 tons. Blocks in weight about 150 tons are found in the pyramid of Khafre. One block in weight of 180 tons and another - in weight of 500 tons were found in a wall of the top temple. Even nowadays the transportation of such blocks would be a difficult technical problem. Why ancient Egyptians didn't saw such huge blocks on some parts? Pyramid of Giza (traditional version)

Egypt - Boat in Giza by Kuznetsov_Sergey It is possible to see now an ancient boat in a specially constructed museum near the pyramid of Khufu. It was found in 1954 in the underground chamber. The boat was made of cedar. It consists of 1124 details. The length of the boat is about 43 meters. It is considered that the boat was a funeral boat and to it is about 4600 years old. It was produced of boards. Edges of boards are very equal. Boards are suit to each other well enough without big backlashes. Boards were curved and also were well adjusted to each other. The technology of bending of direct boards is too uneasy. The main conclusion - ancient builders most likely used saws. I think it was rather difficult to make by simple axe such boards in such amount. Saws should be iron or steel for this purpose. It is very doubt that boards are about 4600 years old from the moment of their creation. In fact we are assured that Egypt of pharaohs did not know iron. Separate iron things which were found from time to time in tombs of pharaohs declared or rather rare and unique, or "latest artifacts", casually got in imperial burials during later epoch.

Egypt - Hieroglyphs by Kuznetsov_Sergey As it is considered the well-known French Egyptologist Jean-François Champollion (1790-1832) opened ancient texts of Egypt for the first time and deciphered mysterious Egyptian hieroglyphs. There is a question whether anybody in Europe was able to read hieroglyphs before him? The answer is - yes, but they had made it incorrectly. It is considered, that Gorapolon made the detailed description of hieroglyphs in IV century of our era. Therefore long before Shampolon some hieroglyphic inscriptions had been read through. But in opinion of traditional historians - it had been made in a wrong way! So from these inscriptions whole fragments from the Bible were found. Then it was solved that the dictionary of Gorapolon could been used for perusal of old records, and for perusal of later texts - it was forbidden. It is strange! If the dictionary is inapplicable for perusal of some texts the result of reading with its help should represent any senseless and casual set of letters. But in fact fragments from the Bible turned out! With the statement of the Shampolon authority all the decodings which had been made before him were recognized as wrong and had been made by laymen. The Shampolon's school confirms that bible texts in hieroglyphs do not exist. On walls of Egyptian temples scientists found out inscriptions which were devoted to pharaohs whose time of reign was carried for the millennia. Historians explain, that the temples were constructed by Ptolemy and decorated by Romans. The temples were erected on places of the most ancient sanctuaries. The ancient inscriptions found on walls of ancient temples were carried to new temples with strict accuracy based on deep religious respect for relics. We do not meet in authentic history such unusual practice of literal copying on walls of new constructions ancient inscriptions which already become not clear. Probably, such nonsense was not observed in ancient Egypt as well!

Egypt - Sphinx structure by Kuznetsov_Sergey Experts consider the Sphinx as the most ancient construction of Giza. At least, it is more ancient the Big Pyramid. Today it is well visible that the body of the Sphinx and its head are different on structure and material. Limestone of a body and a throat is rhythmical flaky. It is very strongly destroyed and in a number of places roughly repaired by cement blocks which have absolutely different structure. They have no characteristic horizontal lamination. Nevertheless such significant destructions occurred in the part of a body closed by sand, even where dynamic loadings were minimal in comparison with a head of the Sphinx. The key of the figure - ears of the Sphinx. Ears cannot be cut from flaky limestone. They would simply fall under own weight. A number of modern scientists (the Russian professor Davidenko) consider that the head of the Sphinx initially was made of concrete, formed on a calcareous body (neck). Almost amorphous, in regular intervals granular structure of concrete allowed the head to resist time better than the basic body of flaky structures.
