wages

by plantman_01

it depends on what type of job you are looking for. I am in the manufacturing sector and have extensive experience in building construction as well. I have enquired concerning a few jobs in the Middle East. There are jobs that pay $80-100000US plus, if you have the experience, qualifications and languages required. Most of these are with foreign ownership companies that are looking for one of their own to head up their companies and projects. There are also allot of Arab firms looking for outside expertise for their projects. These can be 1-5yrs contracts in duration and pay very. Most companies will sponsor you for your work visa as well as housing. These jobs are posted on many job sites if you are serious and have the qualification required. These jobs are very attractive but I found the atmosphere to be a very different environment to which I am used to. Local people, laws, politics...

Egyptian humor

by cachaseiro

The egyptians have a lot of humor and like to take the tourists for a ride.If you are a couple they might offer the guy camels in exchange for his wife and if you dress in a way they find unusual or funny they won't hestitate to tell you and laugh at you.don't worry, just hit back as they are not serious with all these things.they are a very funny bunch and travelling around Egypt can be pure monty phyton if you ask me. Once i saw an egyptian guy looking at a scottish guy in a ripped and dirty metallica shirt and saying:"You dress like an ugly tramp, but at least that secures us that you wont pick up any of our women".

What To Wear (Ladies)

by NilePrincess

You don't need to dress much differently than you do at home. Just cover shoulders, back, midriff and knees. You do not need to cover your head. Jeans, cargo pants, khakis, capris, shorts and skirts that come to the knee - all fine. Actually the longer the skirt the better but to the knee is acceptable for tourists. Any top that doesn't drop your cleavage in people's laps, bares your back (halter top), your shoulders (spaghetti straps) or your midriff are perfectly fine. If I wear something sleeveless, I wear a denim jacket or shirt over it. You can even have fun and get into full Egyptian mode by shopping there and getting some of those pretty cotton tops. Take a light scarf/shawl with you in case you need to enter mosques or churches. If you're inappropriately dressed, you will be made to wear a huge, hideous coverup that probably hasn't been washed since Mubarak came into power. You...

Recommended tour companies

by rosegirl

My friends used egyptrays.com and were very happy with their service but i think its for tours in egypt only. Also from my experience they are the CHEAPEST option, there are cheaper companies of course but there is lot of hassel, they will collect their money from you in another ways like drive you to plenty of shops and push you to buy or push you to very expensive restaurant, change hotels last minute and pick you bad one, egyptrays is free of all this hassel.try also beautyofegypt.com .They are big company that provide high quality service.be careful that weather will be hot in june/july/August,bring your cotton shirts and open sandals, dont forget the sun screen.

Beat the Heat in Egypt in the summer . . .

by suzy301

Hello,I was just there in July. Luckily, the OCD traveler in me came prepared with a list of things I will include here that helped me, and may help you. The days in the south of Egypt were in the 40s, and at midnight in Luxor it was 34 degrees. I think the Valley of the Kings is the hottest place on Earth! But here is what saved me: - a hat with a brim - a thin scarf which I would wet in the morning and put on my head under the hat -one of those neckerchief things that you wet and has crystals in it and stays cool, although this got annoying because it kept falling off - a light coloured umbrella, which provided instant shade - a cooling mist handheld fan - an insulated 1.5 litre water bottle holder (I thought this was too big when I bought it, but drank tons of these huge bottles of water) - thin cotton long sleeved shirts and pants -40 spf face sunblockand what really saved me: -...

EOL Tours

by azz8206

We booked our tour with EOL and it was a wonderful experience. It was a private tour which was great because your one on one with your tour guide and you don't have to jostle for position in a crowded tour. The price was very reasonable it cost us 1060USD per person for the two weeks. That includes hotels, guides, a private car, some meals, all entrance fees, the light show at the Great Pyramids, our cruise from Luxor to Aswan, Abu Simbel, a horse and carriage drive in Edfu City, the motorboat and felucca rides in Aswan and camping in the White Desert. The guides were so knowledgeable and our driver, Mahmoud, was great. He would not let us go and buy anything ourselves instead he would go and buy whatever we wanted paying only the Egyptian price. I went through www.touregypt.net which is the homepage for the AETBI an acroynm for the tourist board of Egypt. You tell them what you want to...

Alex in summer

by theknight

I agree that Alex can be very upleasantly crowded in Summer but this is really restricted to July & August due to school holidays as well as any festive seasons throughout the year .. Humidity levels can also be uncomfortably high is August & September .. Since you are travelly in June , you should have no problem with crowds or weather although things can get a little more busy during week ends .. Cairo, however, is always crowded & noisy and weatherwise , is a few degrees higher .. My advice is to see what you want to see in Cairo and then head for Alex .. Best of luck anyway !

Ride a camel

by azz8206

Ride a camel when your at the Great Pyramids of Giza. Its something you'll never forget and you get great pics of you on the camel and the Pyramids in the background. The cost is 90LE per person or about 15USD. The ride lasts about 20 minutes. You can get quite high being atop a camel and if your afraid of heights as my wife was there are also horse carriages to ride, which is the same cost as the camel ride.
