Luggage and bags: I have a special fondness for Nubian children so I always take stuff for them when I visit. Instead of handing it out to the children I take it to the teachers of the school so that the children are not encouraged to beg. School supplies are greatly appreciated, pens, pencils, coloring books, crayons and the like. Hair ornaments are great for the girls and toys for the boys. Sweets are good but pls make sure that any candy you take does not contain gelatin as it is 'haram' (forbidden) in Islam.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The weather is still extremely warm in late October, and it can occasionally be quite warm in the evening. Temperatures in Aswan can reach over 100 degrees even in March and April! (The coolest months in Aswan are December January and February). Take sandals and light breathable clothing and short-sleeved shirts. The same goes for women dress as conservative as possible, no dresses and skirts above the knee. Save all swimwear for cruise ships and resort areas.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: During the day use sunscreen.

Miscellaneous: Drink lots of bottled water

Luggage and bags: Take a small bag pack with you for day trips...you will want/need something to put your bottled water in...as well as things like your camera and anything you might buy during the day.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Take good walking shoes...you will walk a lot! And also take some comfortable cool clothes for the hot weather you'll almost definitely get there.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Take some sunscreen...you will need it and the sun in Egypt bites quickly!

Photo Equipment: Take heaps of film or memory cards for your camera...you will need it!!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Aswan is very very hot, it's Egypt sunniest southern city and it could reach 40 degree during summer.

A good sunblock is advisable. Pack it along and smear it all over your face! =P
