This part of the world is seen as one of the world's best for diving and snorkelling. It is quite amazing - just a couple of metres off the coast, the coral and fish to be seen just take your breath away. (And the sea is calm enough for snorkelling for all ages!)

The following three persons are old friends and have lived in Nuweiba since many years - they are the true Sinai Specialists...

Hatem Abeed - at Morgana Restaurant - famous local guide and tour leader ( at one time he was the only non-German speaking Imholz tour leader in the world ). Has own safari vehicles. Excellent man and very safe !

Sam Bassouny - samnuweiba@yahoo.com - another Sinai expert and true gentleman. He and his Swiss wife Ursula ( who used to be the local Hotelplan tourleader ) also run safaris and tours.

Mohamed Venus - at Tropicana and Nuweiba Hilton Hotels - operates waters sports departments at both hotels and has own boat that take you on little trips to virgin snorkeling grounds.

Diving - Emperor Divers at Nuweiba Hilton.

Lion fish

What can I say about snorkelling in the Gulf of Aqaba! Clear waters, coral reefs just off the shore about 5 mins walk from the Hilton Coral beach and a warm sea. From someone who grew up by the North Sea on the East coast of Scotland there is no comparison. The variety of fish was amazing too and we saw lots of different species. The highlight was seeing a lionfish swimming along - although we gave it a wide berth! For those who don't like snorkelling the Hilton Coral pier is lit up at night and one night we counted over 30 lion fish swimming around. We also say a squid, cuttle fish and a lone barracuda among others.

Equipment: We took our own snorkelling equipment but the hotel supplied vouchers to rent them from the beach watersports centre. However, we snorkelled almost every day we were there, so it was good we had our own.
