Road to Nuweiba from the south

The is road access to Nuweiba from three directions - north, from Taba and the Israeli border, from the west, all the way from Cairo, and from the south, from Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab.

Basically all the roads are not very busy at all, are single lane highways and are generally safe except for some winding curves through the canyons and a very steep slope coming in from the south.

Every morning the fast launch leaves Aqaba for Nuweiba returning late afternoon.

The journey time is a little over an hour.

Check on web-site below for details of prices... unfortunately departure times are always changing.

    Taxi

Theer's no public transport as such running along the Sinai coast except for beaten up old taxis (little suspension) or mini buses. They usually run the whole length of the peninsula, working on the assumption that you are travelling from either Sharm (international airport) or Taba (Israeli border crossing point) to your destination.
Note that if you cross into Sinai/Egypt from Israel without a full visa, the border guards will issue you with a visa that is only good for the coastal road between Taba and Sharm along with the SInai interior tourist spots (so you can;t then make your way to Cairo or other parts of Egypt).

    Nuweiba Airport - Part 1

But where is the airport ?

Where is Nuweiba Airport ? Does Nuweiba have an Airport ?

There is Al Nakb ( now Taba International Airport ) some 85 km away to the north east.

And there is rumoured to be an old airstrip in Nuweiba ( built supposedly by the Israelis ).

And there is the helipad at the MFO station as well as one near the Nuweiba Holiday Village.

But where is the airport ?

Visitors are surprised and confused by this sign - because no one can find the airport !

    To Aqaba, Jordan!!

    bye Egypt~~

Well, my purpose here was to transit. There are boats services one or two times a day, and there are also two types of services. One is speed boat and another is SNAIL. The former takes 45 minutes in water, while the later takes 3 hours for traffic, and the price is totally the same. You don't need to purchase the ticket prior to your trip. For those days on which there will be two boat services, the snail one will leave earlier, and by the time it arrives Aqaba, the speed one also arrives. If there is only one boat, then i t leaves around 12am, just in time for the bus arrives from Nuweiba.
When leaving Nuweiba, you should go through the immigration first and then wait for the shuttle bus to take you to tge boat. And there is an immigration service, visitors are strongly recommanded to hand in their passport first, and it will make your waiting time shorter.

    Most Airlines (?)

I believe with most Airlianes, Since i live in Israel we share our southern border with Egypt from here we just have to go to Eilat which is the southern city that has a border to Egypt and to Jordan and from there we just have to cross the border.
After crossing the Israeli Border all you have to do is take a taxi BUT one Important fact, Egypt known as a country with the most dangerouse drivers !!!! Its is not a pleasant experience to be in a car with an Egyptian driver, sometimes you REALLY need a strong heart. One more thing, dont think of renting a car there...!!

by Ramody Written Sep 30, 2008

This is the worst company ever , i heard many bad comments from people who had previous bad experience but i never believed this!!!
I'm writting now while i am sitting in Newbaa port, i booked for the Speed boat which I WAS TOLD that it goes at 10 , now it's 1 pm , no news , nobody here to ask , their office is empty , nobody to get any piece of info about it , i had to call to Cairo office and then i was told that that morning one left already without taking anyone to pickup some other passengers from another port in saudi arabia , and i'll have to take the 2 OR 3 pm (he's not sure when it comes) , he was even so rude on the phone to the extent that i hung up on him!!! they're just taking it for granted!!!! can anybody beleieve this!!! Not even telling the passengers who are waiting in the departure hall ,this is an unbelivable bad experience and i will keep talking and talking about it , and OVER MY DEAD BODY i will take it again , even if i'll get the ticket for free!!!!

    Arriving and Moving On

by JohnniOmani Written Jun 23, 2006

Arriving in Egypt from Jordan is a straight up process. Most people usually arrive in the evening and you need to get your entry visa. This is only a money maker and requires two postal stamps and it only takes 10 minutes. Once through customs, you can get a minibus (shared) to Dahab which takes about 45 minutes. The whole process is easy.

    The entrance of the canyon

When you drive to the canyons, a 4WD is essential as the last part of the traject is off-road. This means bumping up and down and up and down for 45 minutes ...
