    Go to Dahab

by machomikemd Written Oct 18, 2013

depending on the type of Tourists of which all use the big tour buses, if you are the secular tourists on a holiday to the Egyptian Riviera and came from eliat in Israel to the Taba Border Crossing or the Taba International Airport, then the drive to Dahab from taba is 2 1/2 hours and 140 kilometers south of Taba. If you are on a Christian Pilgrimage like us, you would start from Saint Katherines near Mount Sinai, then the drive will be 2 hours and 15 minutes and 129 kilometers away and you would do lunch and a short tour in masabat bay and then off to Cairo for the remainder of the Pilgrimage.

    Go to Taba

by machomikemd Written Oct 18, 2013

Taba is just like a small village and there are no major infrastructure around as the life of this small town is just the Border Crossing and the the main attraction in the main town is the big Hiltom Hotel just after the Immigration Area, facing the Beach at the Gulf of Aqaba as it has a casino and most of the players here are Israelis (no Casinos in Israel) and foreign tourists. The Other attractions include the Marriot and Movenpick hotels just after the impromptu bus terminal and the small shops around the hotels. the main attraction of Taba is at the Taba Heights Area where there are the many resorts and villas and public beaches for the tourists (located 20 kilometers south of the border crossing). Taba is located about 140 kilometers north of Saint Katherine and is about a two hour drive away.

    Bedouin life

    by Diana75 Updated Jul 11, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Most of the travelers arriving to St. Catherine reduce their trip to climbing the Mt. Sinai and visiting the Monastery.

But if you want to get in contact with the real Bedouin life you should also pay a visit to St. Catherine village and wander for some time on the small streets.

Probably most of the tourists will consider that there is not much to see, but I still consider it an interesting experience if you want to understand how those persons live and what they do.

    "Ecological" toilet on Mt. Sinai

    by Diana75 Updated Jul 11, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If after the long wait for the sunrise on Mt. Sinai you may have some special needs, don't worry. The Egyptians are prepared for all the situations.

You can find on the mountain everything you need, including an "ecological" toilet.
