    Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: jumpers or shawls for nights as it can get a little cool. also men need trousers and longer shirts for mosques, as do women, as well as a veil/headscarf

    Toiletries and Medical Supplies: bring immodium! just in case you get the stomach churning disease that nearly everyone had when i was there. or just don tdrink the water, clean your teeth or eat fruit or veg! or ice cubes
    also, ladies, i could find tampons in only one shop in the whole bay so stock up!

    Mosquito Repellent

    by beccyandjohn Written May 5, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Toiletries and Medical Supplies: I didn't have a problem with Mosquitos in September 05, but on returning in April 06 i was bitten quite bad, im not sure but think so could be because it was much greener after there winter.

    I even had to purchase some Antihistamines from the local chemist to take the swelling away along with some gel total cost 100 EGP - (10 GBP) if you are thinking of traveling this time of year make sure to get some repellent and sting/bite relief.

    On the other hand John didnt get bite once, they obviously sweater tasting blood.

    snorkeling gear, water, sunscreen, books, glasses
    2 more images

    Luggage and bags: For this uncomplicated trip to Sharm al Sheikh you need not much more than a botlle of water, sunscreen, a book, reading glasses.

    And of course don't forget your snorkeling gear, not only for your excursions to Ras Mohamed NP, but also for the beach.

    Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Swimming suit, T-shirt for swimming or snorkeling in the sun. And in this hot climate I always like to bring long and thin cotton skirts and scarfs for the strolls in town or along the promenade

    Photo Equipment: Don't forget to bring an underwatercover for your camera, when you have the intention to go for snorkeling or scubadiving. If not, I saw you can rent an underwater camera at several places.

    bring your own snorkeling gear

    by om_212 Updated Jul 16, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: it's better to bring your own snorkeling gear to Egypt rather than to buy it in Sharm. first of all the price would not necessarily be cheaper, second you might end up with a pretty disappointing quality. see my "what not to buy" shopping tip for more details.

  • Mosquito Repellent Wristbands

    by sonia999 Updated May 22, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Miscellaneous: Whenever I travel to warm places or to the tropics, I carry a mosquito wristband repellent. It is organic and seems to get rid of the bugs. You can get it at most dept stores or even online. I usually get mine online at pestcontrol-store.com

    Cheers and hope your bug problems go away.

    Medical supplies are a MUST!

    by clueless83 Written Dec 28, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Toiletries and Medical Supplies: The three things you should bring when you visit Egypt are-

    * insect repellent
    * bite cream
    * diarrhea tablets

    If you happen to need these while there but don't have them, do not buy them from the pharmacy on your all inclusive resort if you can help it. We paid about £6 GBP (60 LE Egyptian Pounds) for bite cream at our hotel pharmacy when the supermarket we later found 5 minutes away sold bite cream for a fraction of the price!!!

    Snorkeling Gear

    by Enzyme_X Written Jun 17, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: If you have, bring your fins and water-mask. You'll ne needing them alot. Specially if you go to Sharm for couple of days. Sure, you can rent gear there, but better to have ypu own. You are more used to it and to rent one for more days can be expencive and worn out. Believe me, you'll want to snorkel more than just one day. The underwater world of Read Sea is fantastic.

    Swim shoes

    by LiamJackson10 Written Sep 7, 2010

    Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I would say take swimming shoes with you. I tried my hardest not to stand on the reef at all because it damages the coral but its hard in places not to catch it with legs or feet mostly. The coral can be sharp and i see a few people with cuts on there feet from it. i had swimming shoes and they helped alot with this problem.

    Fishy

    Photo Equipment: An Underwater camera to capture the amazing sea life.

    As you will see from my picture, you can get photos from above the sea but they do not compare with underwater shots.
