After reading previous posts, I was dreading the journey home, but things have changed It was straightforward, a lot easier than UK
Lots of scanners etc, but really fast, originally we were told no liquids, but the Local guide said we could take a litre of liquid, we took in two cans coke, no problem.
Buy snacks/drinks prior to going to airport, very expensive, duty free prices in dollars, 200 cigs approx £12.00, litre booze approx £10
Dont trust departure displays, listen for tannoy, it is clear, if you have hearing problems talk to one of the airport staff in departures, very helpful (without sticking hands out for tips)
Look for Anas, (see photo) he works on departure desks/area, lovely kind Fella (say hello from Tom & Mary)

I normally transit Cairo on my way to Sharm el Sheikh and pick up Egypt Air in Cairo. Departing from the domestic terminal in Cairo, Egypt Air offers flights starting around 6am through midnight to/from Sharm International Airport. The time of the flights varies each day but there are flights every day to/from Cairo.
The cost is approximately 100-120 Euros for a round-trip flight. Flights can be booked online through the Eygpt Air website or through a travel agent.
The several times I have flown with Egypt Air I've always been impressed with the quality of the airplanes...so don't be scared off by the simplicity and age of the domestic terminal! Most of the planes were new if not brand-new Boeing's. There was always a small snack and boxed juice drink served along with tea/coffee even though the flight is only one hour.
Inflight entertainment includes a monthly magazine called Horus and a video on the reefs in Sharm el Sheikh.

In addition to scheduled flights to Cairo, Hurghada, Luxor and Alexandria, Sharm's airport is served by frequent charter flights to Italy, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, among other destinations.

you can go from Cairo to Sharm either by bus or by plane n i advice you to go by plane cuz its much easier n it will just take 45minutes to get there while going by bus will take 7hours moreover it will b a very tiring journey so it would be better to go by plane if you can afford it

The fastest and easiest way to get to Sharm is by plane. There is an international airport about 15 minutes drive from Naama Bay. It is currently being reconstructed. This is also a unique opportunity to see the Sinai Peninsula and the Suez canal.

To/From... Charters from Germany seem plentiful. From the US? Who knows... smile... I just know I never HEARD of Sharm until I was in Berlin ready to find a cheap cool place to visit. I think there are many scheduled flights from DE as well, but you will have to check!!!

The best way to get to Sharm is to go by plane. There are plenty of flights directly from Western European airports, especially Italy and Germany. Also flights from Russia, Ukraine and other Eastern European places.
The other alternative is a flight to Cairo and then a domestic flight with Egypt Air to Sharm (50 minutes).
The bus trip from Cairo to Sharm takes about 7 hours and is not interesting.

If you need to get from the hotel to the town it is best to take the local bus which will cost you about $2.
If you can not wait you can take a taxi but be warned that the nicer your hotel is the more you are going to pay. Set the price before you get in the taxi.
