We were recommended by our holiday rep to go to Old Sharm for the day as the shopping was supposed to be really good and this is where you can get all your bargains. It only cost us 20 Egyptian Pounds from our hotel in Sharm el Sheikh to Old Sharm. It was a good day out but i did get abit fed up with the hassle to go into the shops from all the shop keepers after a couple of hours of it. It is still a nice day out and dont be scared of them just say hello and carry on shopping, you will be fine. Also i would advise ladies to dress sensibly to avoid excessive attention from the locals.
You enter the souk area through a huge archway over the road. There are hundreds of shops and stalls to look at but i admit that once you've walked past about five or six stalls then you've seen it all, it tends to repeat after that. There are lots of different stalls selling the usual sovenirs from the stuffed camel, to a fridge magnet, shisha pipe and postcards which are all alot cheaper than in Naama Bay, you can also buy spices, shisha pipes, gold, carpets, lanterns, antiques, jewellery, Egyptian cotton clothing, belly dancing costumes, fruit and vegetables, local produce and there are lots of restaurants and cafes for you to enjoy a nice ice cold drink or coffee or something to eat.
Anything, there are no set prices so use your haggling skills. The locals expect it so no need to feel cheeky just go for it! Theme: Local CraftAddress: Old Sharm, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

The best tip I can give you about shopping in Sharm el Sheikh is: don't! :o) I'd rather travel the 90 km north to Dahab - it only takes an hour or so by car - and do my souvenir and gift shopping there. Souvenir prices in Sharm el Sheikh are possibly the highest in all of Egypt, and certainly higher than in Dahab. In addition you'll soon discover that the shopkeepers and touts in Dahab generally are *a lot* more relaxed and friendlier than in Sharm - which makes the shopping a whole lot more enjoyable... :o) Dahab has lots of little shops along a seaside promenade, and plenty of small beachfront caf?s where you can relax - nice!:o) You'll find all the usual souvenirs - shishas, silver jewelry, leather stuff, woven rugs, camels in all sizes, incense, spices, perfume, papyrus prints, embroidered shirts and bags... Many organised day trips and excursions from Sharm el Sheikh will make a stop in Dahab for shopping - but it's easy to go there on your own, and it's well worth spending some time in this pleasant little town. (Go by bus or by taxi from Sharm.) Leave a Comment Theme: Local Craft

naama bay by joolssss There are about 4 kinds of shop in sharm, Jewellry, Perfume, Clothes and everything else! Every shop you pass will have an owner running out of it asking where you are from and asking if you would sign his book, or just come in for a look. Dont get offended or annoyed, they are only trying to earn a living, but they can be persistent!
I found Silver Cartouches to be very well priced, I bought a few here ( not as cheap as Luxor) and they cost me around 35LE each, and they are beautiful. I also picked up some nice leather wallets and purses, just check that its leather not plastic! A good sniff usually tells you. Leave a Comment Theme: GiftsAddress: Naama Bay, Old Sharm or Fantasia

by mr.small Janis beer shop is one of the very few places that you can buy alcohol that is not a hotel, bar or restaurant. There are two others that i know of in sharm but this is the cheapest, has the widest chioce and unlike the others does not sell anything else.It just sells booze.
Beer,or specifically lager. The only ones I touch are Stella Premium(6.4%) Stella Export(5.2%) Meister Max(8%) or Meister(5.2%).You can also get Stella Local(4.5%) and Sakara Gold(4%).Local spirits are available with names like Johnny Waler(whisky) And Gordoons(gin). As you can guess by the names they are not the real thing and taste pretty bad,but for £3 a bottle they are ok as mixers.
For a half litre bottle of Stella or Meister about 7 EGP or 1€.The same for the smaller but stronger Meister Max. 30 EGP or 4€ for 750ml spirits. Shopping in the Old market by belgrade03 There are hundreds of small shops in Sharm el Sheikh, in Naama Bay as well as in the Old market. The goods are the same but the prices are very different, generally everything is much more expensive in Naama Bay, which is the new and commercial centre of Sharm. There are so many tourists all year and shopkeepers just don't want to bargain because there will always be some Italian or German or French or Englishman to pay the price they demand. We, the Serbs, just can't afford to pay every price and therefore we appreciate shopping at the Old market where prices are even 50% lower than in Naama Bay. There are very nice papyrus, souvenirs, nargile etc. everywhere in Sharm, only the prices differ.
Always bargain, especially in the Old market. Always start 50 or even 60% off of the price they say. Leave a Comment Theme: Local Craft

Caliente by mr.small Great pizza etc at an outstanding price. They range from 18LE (£1.80) for you basic C&T up to 25LE (£2.50) for a full loaded special, and they are more than big enough for one person. They make and cook them fresh in front of your eyes.We found that most of the time one between two was enough. They only sell soft drinks but they have no problem at all with you either bringing your own alcohol or popping out to the beer shop(30secs away) to get your own. They are also open from 11am until 3am every day
It would be very hard to spend more than £5 a head including pudding and drinks Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: Near benzine(petrol) station,El Khazan St,Hadaba.Directions: Ask for the 24/7 supermarket,Hadaba,it is nearly next door. You can either go through the front door or go around the back for the outside seating.

Glass Egyptian Scent Bottle by SabrinaSummerville Everywhere you go in Egypt you will find people trying to lure you into their shop to buy perfume. They will serve you cups of Hibiscus tea, sit you down to chat about your world, and display their wares at leisure. Most of the shopkeepers are charming people, and it is difficult indeed not to be tempted to buy something. The first time you go you will probably buy many things. In fact, you'll be trying to think of people at home that you can buy things for! You will be tempted by the thought that "this" was Cleopatra's favourite scent. Forget Western advertising - you wil picture yourself languishing ravishingly in a bath of perfumed asses milk! The perfume here is sold in oil form and so is far longer lasting than the usual alcohol-based perfumes. Most of the scents are also very pleasant indeed. In addition to the scented oils, all of the shops sell prettily crafted, multicoloured glass perfume bottles. These are all incredibly fragile and delicate, so make sure that they are very well packed with bubble wrap before you travel.
Perfume oil, glass perfume bottles, scent burners etc.
Bargain - it's not very expensive and they WANT you to bargain. Leave a Comment Theme: Bath and BeautyAddress: Throughout Egypt.

Fake LV Bag by SabrinaSummerville Few women can resist the lure of a beautiful handbag on holiday, and in recent years there is a huge demand for great designer fakes. Just down from the Savoy Hotel in Sharm is a little shop selling bags, purses, suitcases, and umbrellas. They're all designer fakes - mostly Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Burberry. Most of the fakes are obvious fakes but a couple are pretty well made. Even most of those have tell-tale "Made in Egypt" tags:-) I had a very amusing chat with the owner of this little shop. I was carrying a real LV that I paid Euro600 for and he was trying to persuade me to buy a fake from him for Euro40. he just couldn't see the difference between a real one and a fake, even when I pointed out the differences to him. In fairness I don't think he had any concept of what a designer label was, and just knew that everyone was anxious to buy these bags. initially I was afraid I had insulted him, but then realised that he was delighted with the chat and was already scheming how he might make his look more like mine. I even bought one for fun and it made his day. Pic will be posted..... Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: In the row of shops down the street from Savoy Hotel.

Beyond Limits by mr.small For a town that is such a mecca for diving it was surprisingly empty of proper dive gear shops.Everywhere sells the cheap mask and snorkel sets but if you want a shop with a wide variety of top gear then this is the best one we found.
We found that BCDs,computors and regs where about the same as in the UK,suits where more expensive and masks and fins where cheap. Leave a Comment Theme: Sporting GoodsAddress: Upper floor at the rear of the Naama CentreDirections: It is a bit hard to find because you cant easily see it.The Naama centre is at the end of the main pedestrian street in Naama bay. It is next to the Hard Rock cafe near the main taxi rank.

The duty free shop is located in Naama bay, behind Pacha at the very bottom on a corner. You can't miss it, it's usually very busy. Word of advise, don't go without your passport or you won't be able to buy anything from here, but you can look. It sells a range of things from alcohol, perfume, make up, shoes etc I wouldn't exactly say its very cheap, but cheaper than retail shop price in the UK.
They are fixed prices - sorry no bartering here! Theme: Other
