Beaches, Sharm El Sheikh

There are not many beaches in Sharm-el-Sheikh, and the few are not particularly good. The so called beaches are generally a line of shades facing the reef, and a jetty to enter the water. That's what happens in this beach, with the advantages of free parking and short distance from the hotel. We used it a few times.

We stayed at the Aqua Blu in Sharm which had the added benefit of a water park. Many hotels in Sharm have their own private beaches but as ours did not we were able to visit the sister hotel's beach. The sister hotel I believe is called Beach Albatros and is just a couple of minutes drive on the free shuttle bus.

The beach itself was nothing special if I'm honest. We had trouble getting sunloungers too. We had a little walk on the pier and spotted some fish in the clear blue water and we also booked our glass bottom boat trip from here.

Best part - spotting fish (we think we saw a reef shark too!)
Worst part - getting up and down. There is a lift you can use to get down to the beach but its really ugly looking (I avoided it in my photos). We chose to go by the steps but its a bit of a trek!!!

The city has many wonderful beaches where you can sit and relax in the sun and then take a nice dip into the ocean. Some of the most popular beaches in the area are Ma'ama Boy and Shark Bay.

You can swim in the warm waters, snorkel, and go scuba diving. The underwater world is just as beautiful as the world above, and you will be able to see a variety of marine animals, including colorful fish, sharks, manta rays, and turtles.

Public Beach is free in Sharm el Sheikh and you can do all sorts of diving, snorkelling, swimming and other beach activities down here. There are a range of sunbeds available and the beach is always kept clean constantly throughout the day. You will also get the chance to have massages by the beach, hair braids, food, drinks, henna tattoos and much more while you relax in the sun

You need proper beach shoes because whilst there are amazing creatures living in and out the Red Sea there are also some nasties. Beach shoes are readily available at all markets and can be got quite cheaply as can snorkles and all other requirements.

We experience two beaches "Mexicana" and "Diamond". Mexicana is nice and sandy and a stones throw from Sharm old town.
Diamond was by far the better of the two - it's a coral reef so lots of beautiful fish very shallow... watch out for the stone fish and sea snakes!

The next one along the coast is the beach that some of the cheaper hotels use,the Mexicana etc and is situated down the end of an unmade up track at the side of what is at the moment a building site,it may be called Diamond beach.To get to it make your way to the entrance of the Ritz Carlton hotel,this is on a roundabout,instead of going ahead into the ritz turn right,as soon as you have turned right you need to turn left and then carry on down the track,its about a 5 min walk or get the taxi to take you all the way.This beach costs LE20 and again you need your own towel,the toilets here are not very good.Snorkelling is very good,access is easy off of floating pontoons straight into deep water.For the best fish etc swim to the left.This beach also has a restaurant serving booze.The last beach is found at the end of a gravel road opposite the main entrance to the open air cinema(alf leila wa leila) which is on El Fanar st(it is the track at the side of the small super market) .This beach is the Kirosiez beach and costs LE20 but includes a towel as well,the toilets are spotless.The entrance is down the left side of the hotel at the security desk.The sea is also accessed by pontoon into deep water.If you want to eat or drink you need to go to the restaurant/bar either half way back up the hill or the one at the very top.

Sharm el Sheik has hundreds of miles of sandy beaches. You have to be careful in many spots as the coral reefs are very close to the shore, but jettys are provided so you can walk out to a suitable dive/snorkelling spot.

Many of the hotels have a stretch of private beach with free sunbeds and showers. Many salesmen patrol the beach so be on your gaurd and be prepared to shoo them away as we had 8 or 9 approach us in the space of an hour.

It can be a little cooler on the beach so make sure you wear a suitable factor suncream and if you plan to snorkel wear a water proof sunlotion.

With the quite consistent desert weather around Sharm el Sheikh, you can pretty much count on great sunrises and sunsets most every day....

The day that we departed was even better as some clouds have gathered to the east of Sharm, giving the sunrise quite a fiery diffused orange glow to it... (The other days were great as well, I should know, I was up before sunrise every day to catch the day's dive boat..)
