    Dahab/Camel Rides

    Camels on Dahab beach

We stopped in Dahab for lunch on the way back from the coloured canyon, its more of an older town than Naama Bay but very very appealing. Its packed full of bazaars and street sellers. We ate in cafe on the beach, the beach here is peaceful and beautiful, i could come here for a holiday! You can get a camel ride along the beach which is always worthwhile doing! Its a lot more relaxed here than Naama bay and old sharm, not quite as much hassle to buy things, more of a gentle freindly banter!

Approximately 100 km from Sharm, you will find the small beach and diving resort of Dahab. There is a nice beach and plenty of restaurants overlooking the water in which you can have a nice meal. Also you can find many small souvenir shops.

    Dahab

Dahab means gold in Arabic. It is said that this name was given by the Bedouins, who likened the shimmering sands to gold dust.
Dahab, located approximately 100km northwest of Sharm El-Sheikh, is still considered to be one of South Sinai's most treasured diving spots.
It is famous for its golden beaches and deceptively deep diving sites, such as the Blue Hole, the Canyon and the Lighthouse.
The area is divided into two areas; the tourist centre where the major hotels are found and the Bedouin village of Assalah, which a lot of budget travellers find attractive because of its numerous restaurants and cheap accommodation.

  • Dahab - shopping if you must.

An organised trip to Dahab was worth the time it took to get there. We loved the atmosphere of the village, the beautiful bay as the sun sank and the lights came on was magical. Not commercialised like Sharm, hotel wise I mean, as I had expected an Egyptian village to be. We didn't appreciate the enforced stop at a large souvenir emporium but could appreciate that some people may not like to barter at the bazaars and shops in Dahab.
