Pro
Great sunshine all year round, great base to explore other surrounding countries.
Con
Isolated area, not much nightlife besides hotel entertainment.
In a nutshell
Taba is a cheaper Eilat with less tourist infrastructure.
I'm guessing there is probably at least one gift shop in each of the hotels in Taba Heights, each with the same 'above-average' prices.
What to buy: Even with the high prices I did end up buying a few bits 'n bats, like a snorkel, but a cost of £35 it's worth bringing your own.
What to pay: Above average, but there's no other shops around

There are not that many dangerous fish in The Red Sea, however some fish can get a bit terrotorial. When this happened I just swam in a different direction and they left us alone.
One fish to watch out for are the Lion Fish which are very distinctive (see photo). They are slow moving and have never chased me or anything like that, but respect their space.

Make sure when visting any tourist part`s of Egypt that you take some US$1 bills for tipping as the Egyptian`s expect a tip for everything, and by taking these you will always have the right amount to tip them with, if not you could end giving more to them than you want.

Scuba Diving is available in Taba Heights Resort, but I personally never tried it. At £100 for just 30 minutes, it didn't seem quite worth it.
Though while I was checking out the advertised scuba diving I noticed the noisy Russians quite calmly floating in the sea just off the end of this pier. They had snorkels on and were obviously looking for fish. So the next day, snorkel in hand I headed for the same spot. Lo and behold as soon as I poped of the end of the pier I spotted some of the most colorful and beautiful fish in the world. I can't believe I was about to pay £100 for something I'd just seen for free !
