Crowds on the mountain

I remember that this was a thing that intrigued me on the mountain and also while descending. While climbing the mountain maybe because of the dark I haven't noticed how many persons were also climbing like us, but on the top, at the sunrise it was full of people all over the place.Thus, anyone who wants to catch a good place for admiring the sunrise is better to wake up early.

The Public Transports...

If you are reaching Mt. Sinai by public transports, pay attention to the time-table of the buses OUT from this place.So many versions of the bus schedules even from the guidebooks on the market, even asking the locals who work there, they would tell you the bus would come at certain time but when you wait for that particular bus, it doesn't turn up !Sure, there are many tour buses there, you can ask them to give you a lift or maybe you can pay them some money...

If You Are On Friday...

If you are here on a Friday or Sunday, St. Katherine Monastery is not opened to the public !In fact, this monastery is opened from 9 am to 12 pm only everyday except Friday & Sunday.Still, you can wander on the outside of the monastery sipping drinks, eating or talking with other people.

If Arrives At Night...

If you want to climb Mt. Sinai at night (like I did !), make sure you have a torchlight !The trails are NOT lit ! You can just rely on the moonlight or maybe there would be other tourists there as well, so you just tag along behind them...Yes of course the trails are easy enough, with craggy rocks along the way, no problem if you wear a good walking shoes ! I even saw some old ladies even wore high heels climbing Mt. Sinai, certainly no problem for them either !Oh ! BRING LOTS OF WATER !The drinks sold as you climb up this mountain are so expensive, maybe 10 times more of the price that you pay in your own country !You have been warned !By me !

Wadis, rainfall and flood.

Be carefull in wadis. They can look very scenic and dry, but in times of rainfall it can be real dangerous in the wadis. They can flood very suddenly. So don't camp or stay overnight in wadis during risky times.I saw even buidings and tarred roads swept away.
