Tour Buses Stopover
depending on the type of Tourists of which all use the big tour buses, if you are the secular tourists on a holiday to the Egyptian Riviera and came from eliat in Israel to the Taba Border Crossing or the Taba International Airport, then the drive to Dahab from taba is 2 1/2 hours and 140 kilometers south of Taba. If you are on a Christian Pilgrimage like us, you would start from Saint Katherines near Mount Sinai, then the drive will be 2 hours and 15 minutes and 129 kilometers away and you would do lunch and a short tour in masabat bay anbd then off to Cairo for the remainder of the Pilgrimage.

Use the local taxis - mostly Chevvy pick ups or beat up jeeps but really really cheap. Haggle for a price before getting in - 5LE per person is a good rate for the drivers but very little regarding exchange rates
Bus from Nuwebia
Buses leave from Nuwebia Bus Station (near the port entrance) to Dahab three times a day. They leave just after the following hours 8am, 10am and 4pm. The cost should be around 11LE. The camp I was staying at was about 10 miles north of Nuwebia, so I flagged the bus down from the side of the road.
If you plan on going to Cairo after Dahab like most travellers do then you must book in advance. I was told during the low season that I didnt need to get a ticket a day in advance due to low number of tourists but in reality I was stuck in Dahab for two days because it was booked. To make a long story short, buy and book your Cairo ticket two days in advance and you wont have any problems.
- Road Trip
If you want to travel to Jordan from Dahab. Take a taxi from any of your hotel to Dahab bus station, which locates in Cahab city. It cost you around LE5. And there is only one bus service from Dahab to Nuweiba, which cost you LE11 to 12 and leaves at 10:30, it depends on how many luggage you have. It's about an hour drive from Dahab to Nuweiba. There will be a check point mid-way to Nuweiba. So even if you just want to go to Nuweiba, take your passport with you. There is aircon in the bus, but it's very WARM in the back of the bus. So I think it's better to seat in the front.
Consider to hire your own transportation.
If you are with a bigger group (max. about 6 persons) you might consider to hire an airconditioned mini cab for transportation from Cairo to Dahab and vice versa.
It is faster and more comfortable than the bus, for sure!!
It will take you to your destination the shortest way and will stop at your request. Great if you see a place where you want to take some pictures or have a sanitary pause. Also no trouble with road blocks and things. And you can decide where and when you leave and arrive.
We payed 1200 LE for the trip from Dahab to Cairo and an additionel 150 LE tipping money for the drivers. That is about 180 USD. But we were with 6 persons, so 30 USD a person is a good price to my idea.
For a trip that takes more than 4 hours there need to be 2 drivers.

Pick up truck taxis
The only place in the world I have seen pick up trucks used as taxis!
If you are too hot, or feeling a bit too lazy to walk, a pick up truck taxi shouldnt cost you more than a few Egyptian pounds to get you around Dahab.
A cab to Dahab
It is cheap to take a cab to Dahab, but remember to haggle about the price before You go. Try to keep the same cabriver during Your stay in Sinai, they ofthen has a cellphone so You can reach them anytime.

This lone camel was sauntering with purpose from Dahab - no doubt on his way to pick up a customer!!
