by clairegeordio This is a must do evening activity! It is great fun! It can be booked through your travel rep or Jolley’s travel agent by the Winter Palace for between 28-35GBP. A mini bus collects you from your hotel and you get taken to the Movenpick resort on Crocodile Island. Here, you have to put on the traditional Egyptian robe (yours to keep) and then you all board either a Felucca or motor boat to gently cruise down the Nile for an hour at sunset. Then you all take your seat in the tent where you are entertained by a band, dancers, belly dancer, snake charmer and whirling dervish. Also included is an all you can eat and drink Egyptian buffet - so much to choose from! There is a lot of audience participation. I can’t believe I plucked up the courage to have a cobra wrapped round my neck! The night starts at 5pm and carries on until around 9.30pm when the minibus drops you back to your hotel.
You are given Egyptian dress to wear and keep. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Fellah's tent, Movenpick hotel resort

by ATXtraveler In order to respect the culture of the Arab people, you will not see alot of alcohol consumption. Tea and Tobacco are acceptable, but for the most part, there were not any visible "bars" for tourists. You can however enjoy a Stella Beer on your cruise ship. It by far was the most expensive thing I purchased in all of Egypt. Not the best beer I ever tasted, but it was decent. Leave a Comment

You will not feel bore in the evenings and at nights in cruise. Evening walks on a main deck, dances, watching video, alcohol in the bar will allow you to have a rest after the sated day time excursions. Also you may admire sunrises and sunsets over the Nile... You may watch my 4 min 01 sec VIDEO-Clip on my personal YouTube channel: Egypt Luxor Cruise Boat and Sunset over the Nile Theme: Other

by BerniShand Its not the best sound and light show in Egypt but is still a great experience, and if you are only there for a Nile cruise it`s the most accessable. Definately worth a visit
cover up to keep the mozzies at bay, but it will still be warm. A small torch is handy to help keep your footing. the picture is the ticket from the show at Abu Simbol, and will be replaced when I can find the Karnak one ! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

I know, British Bar by boltonian Whenever you go abroad, there is a Brit bar. Luxor is no different. One of the only places I found that had any sort of nightlife. Includes a very unusual 'Bob Marley Corner' They also do a range of English meal options, not too bad actually. Internet, range of beers, pool table, music, food. Home from home. Leave a Comment

We went to a son et lumiere (sound and light) show at Karnak temple. I have to say after paying our £14 we were all disappointed and very bored with it all. I think I expected more from the show-perhaps I was imagining the Jean Michel Jarre concert in the London docklands I don’t know but this sound and light show was nothing like it! The narrative which I lost track of very quickly was accompanied by parts of the temple being illuminated by white or the odd coloured light-there were no moving images or lasers to be seen anywhere. The music that was played during the performance didn’t sound remotely Egyptian- again I think I imagined Aida or Nabucco. As one part of the narrative is over everyone moves en mass to the next point where another part of the narrative begins. The last 45 minutes were sat on some seats overlooking the sacred lake while the music, disjointed narrative and lights continued-the lights in the sky from the crescent moon, stars and planets were far more interesting Leave a Comment Theme: Other

It's more interesting than a disco or a nightclub if you want to feel the pulse of the city's real life. And you can also buy some cheap souvenirs. Theme: OtherAddress: Luxor Bazaar

Opposite the Luxor temple on the corniche walkway below road level is the metropolitan cafe/bar. Cool air from the nile makes this pleasent day and evening and you avoid the seedy side of bar life in Luxor. Not cheap about E£12 a bottle of domestic. Locals hang out and drink here.
