Eating in Luxor without paying a ridiculous sum of monet can be difficult. One of the few things I wasn't ludicrously overcharged for in this imbroglio was Kushwari .
In Luxor the kushwari business seems to be cornered by Abou Ashraf. The central diner is on Station Street, but the kitchen supplies other branches.
I may have been charged a pound or so more than the locals, and sometimes had to ask for the little bags of sauce and lemon juice when I was having a takeaway, but this is one of the few straight deals in town
Favorite Dish: c'mon................... KUSHWARI

Meal at the restaurant of the boat seemed to me delicious enough. Meal seemed also diverse enough first days. Probably by the third day of the cruise, having been satiated with this meal, it would be desirable already something another.
The cost of meal was included into the cost of the cruise. Therefore I do not know, how much our breakfasts, dinners and suppers cost. I paid only for beer (20LE = $ 4), fresh juice (9LE = $ 2) and tea (7LE = $ 1,5). The payment occurred only once - in the end of the cruise.

this is what you can call a hand made restaurant. It is fabulous. Outdoors, in an egyptian garden. All the tables has light walls around them, and I can promise you that you have never seen anything like this. Everything is slightly worn out from the Bob Marley tapes they play to the billiard table - nevertheless, the place has a great atmosphere, you feel relaxed and have fun :)
Favorite Dish: It is supposed to be a fish restaurant. They have grilled fish and fried fish. And if you are not very fond of Nile fish, they also have what they call "chicken in the fire". All food there is delish, I never get any trouble with stomachAnd you have a lot of side dishes: salads, vegetables, fries, rice, sauces, cheese dips and so on, so every time I think that they may have to carry me out after dinner :)

I would like to recommend the Queen's Coffee Shop in Luxor. It is in the street opposite the Sonesta Hotel.
The owner is called Dean and he is usually on the premises to welcome you. The coffee is great but its main attraction is Dean's culinary skills as he cooks a wonderful steak. The kitchen is spotless with the food being cooked where you can see it.
The prices are excellent and you can get a three course meal in good surroundings for around £4. The atmosphere is the coffee shop is friendly and informal and for anyone visiting Luxor this little cafe/restaurant is a gem.
Favorite Dish: I had melon with grapes, a medium fillet steak and then ice cream for dessert - all for 45 le. It was a feast.

Located on the West Bank, just off the ferry landing (a few meters to your right), this is a favorite of foreign archeologists and tourists. Although the menu is simple, the restaurant's outdoor setting on a lush flower garden makes it very atmospheric. It's a great place to stop by for lunch after some serious sightseeing on the West Bank. There is a reproduction of an ancient water wheel - a fascinating contraption while enjoying your meal.
Food is served on local earthenware - very authentic. Their Egyptian menu of baked chicken is highly recommended. It is a medley of rice and vegetable side dishes and baked chicken, of course. Simple, but tasty and filling. The vegetable side dish of tomatoes, zucchini and other local varieties is very refreshing, especially on a hot day.
Staff is friendly and attentive. I commented on how good the vegetable side dish was, and I was offered a refill - not once but twice. If there is one thing that sums up the whole place, it would be Ahmed's (one of the waiters) reassuring spiel - "Relax, you're in Egypt." If I were to rephrase him, it should have been, "Relax, you're in Africa."
Favorite Dish: Their Egyptian menu of baked chicken is highly recommended. It is a medley of rice and vegetable side dishes and baked chicken, of course. The vegetable side dish of tomatoes, zucchini and other local varieties is very refreshing, especially on a hot day.

This beautiful restaurant is located at the Sheraton Luxor Resort hotel. Everyone is free to use the restaurants.
We stayed at Le Meriden Luxor but you are allowed to eat out in the other hotels if you wish.
The restaurant is located next to a pond which has beautiful swans and ducks in the pool.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and our food came very quickly.
Favorite Dish: I had minestrone soup for starters, spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread, and ice cream for dessert. We also had a couple of beers. Three of us ate for less than 300 Egyptian Pounds. That included drinks, starters, main course and desserts and all with a friendly and quick waiter service. It was a bargain.
I highly recommend coming to La Mamma's at least once during your stay in Luxor.

I particularly enjoyed this restaurant which offers French or Egytian food and such good cakes: the lemon cake is really a must! Besides, everything is clean there, which is not so common and this is important for me. I loved the atmosphere with the terrace looking to the theban mountain and the temple, so peaceful and relaxing: I can stay hours there; I also enjoyed the beautiful garden with bougainvilleas of all colours and lots of other flours. I stayed there sometimes, reading a book and drinking tea. I recommend this experience.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed several dishes: the lemon cake first, but also the pizzas with tuna or cheese, or the vegetables which are really tasty.

This is a terrace. Beautiful view on the Nile. It is very quiet and nice....
Favorite Dish: Considering that I was sick, it is not going to be the best tip ever. Still, I tried some rice that tasted good but didn't feel good for tummy at the time... Those fortunate ones have told methat the food was delicious!

You should definatly have a meal on the Nile. This restaurant in particular is "Anubis". There are many restaurants along the river bank and they are all about the same quality. When you go with a guide, he/she will take you to the one that they have contract with. It's beautiful to have lunch and view on Nile at the same time no matter what restaurant you go to.
