Jamborine is located in Old Town luxor, its just off of thr markets a short walk up from the river.
The entrance is a small door from the outside - inside its sparkling clean and the menu is reasonably priced offering a vast selection of Western and Egyptian dishes.
The food was beautiful!

It took us ages to find this place! Its actually above some shops - you walk through the shops and then up the stairs!! Its located out along the River Front.
To be honest we wouldnt normally go somewhere like this, but it was Sunday and I really fancied a roast dinner - Lucky Us that the Kings Head was doing a Roast Dinner that day!!! And it was delicious.

Queen's Coffee House is a small place in the southern end of Luxor city. They serve all kinds of coffee, for example a great cappuccino, mocha, ice mocha, ice coffee, ice latte, flavoured coffee (you must try it!) and many other kinds. They also have all kinds of tea, and for the hungry ones: pancakes and wafers! It's a small, cozy cafe as well as shop with great service and a nice atmosphere. It's located in a side street opposite Meridien and Sonesta hotels - there is a sign on the main street, follow it and you can't miss it. The e-mail address is queenscoffeehouse@yahoo.com, in case you need it. You will love it!

We were told about the view from the McDonalds in Luxor by a few different people/friends before our trip to Egypt so we thought that we would go if we got the chance...
McDonalds in Luxor probably has the best view I have ever seen from a McDonalds restaurant anywhere in the world... We went up to the 3rd floor to eat our food and had an amazing view over the city of Luxor, the Luxor Temple and in the background we could see the Valley of the Kings...

This one is recommended in LP guidebook. The food quality is standard but prices are lot. Take note of the service charges and taxes. They are killing. A standard meal with salad, soup, main and drink costs at least 40 EGP.

In my opinion, food is generally expensive in Luxor and the quality is no good. I discovered this restaurant and found out food quality is quite good and prices are superb cheap. A meal with soup, salad and main is around 13 EGP. It also serves pizza for about 8 EGP each. Comparing to other restaurant, a meal like this will cost about 25 EGP. (May 2006)

We had lunch one day at El Kababgy while we were in Luxor. It's located down at the Nile River and you can sit out under the umbrellas overlooking the boats on the Nile...it's very relaxing...

My notes on this place are very sketchy, but in my Lonely Planet guide I took time to write in the margin "excellent restaurant near entrance". I can't recall if this place served shwarmas or what, but I also note that Lonely Planet says that a cool Stella, Egypt's national brand of beer, can be consumed there.
Favorite Dish: I don't recall, just remember the food being excellent. I doubt it was expensive, but my notes don't provide menu or prices.

This restaurant is right outside of Karnak Temple, along a long row of shops. When you're finished with Karnak, stop in at TUT Restaurant for a beer, sheesha, and really good Egyptian food.
The employees at this restaurant are keen for conversation, so ask one a few questions and you'll find yourself surrounded by a variety of friendly locals.
Our friend Hassan was able to get a sheesha pipe for me, and he was incredibly helpful in gathering together the tobacco and charcoal needed for it. If you see him there, have him assist you in gathering together an array of Egyptian dishes.
The view from the balcony is outstanding - from here, you get to see the top of Karnak, hear the sound and light show, and watch tourists coming in and out of the temple.

Q: Hi, Does anyone know the best (and most reputable) company that provides hot air balloon rides in Luxor at a reasonable price?...

A: $100 sounds reasonable to me, compared to other prices I've seen. I think I spent at least that much on a balloon ride in Tunesia several years ago. Personally, I'd be...
