If you are looking for traditional Egyptian food you can do no better then the Tutankhamun Restaurant. It is on the west bank, just a few hundred metres from the local ferry If you are adventurous enough to try it you will find the food is certainly "different" We had lunch there one day and for the two of us it cost less than £10 UK As for the servings, the photograph says it all!!! The restaurant is on the roof so you have a fantastic view of Luxor and the temple across the river. The owner is a very friendly guy and treats you as if you were a friend rather than a customer. If you take the local ferry, turn left and the restaurant is about 2 - 3 hundred metres on the river side. You will get the locals telling you the restaurant has closed down and try to persuade you to go to another place, this is just a trick to get you to their friends place where they will be given money from their friend which is added on to you own bill
Favorite Dish: No set menu here, Just a table full of food

This restaurant was recommended by regular British visitors to Luxor and was a great recommendation! The restaurant was opened by a British lady, but serves Egyptian, as well as British food. This food was such good value for money, eg soup was 0.50GBP and a main course, such as half a duck with apple sauce, roast potatoes and vegetables was only 2.80 GBP! Our whole bill for two courses each and four cokes came to less than 8 GBP.

This restaurant is towards the back of the hotel, at pool level. You walk to the left of the pool and it is behind this. We sat outside and were given a torch to read the menu! It was delicious Egyptian food, such as lamb koftas, rice, special potatoes and a mezze tray - this bill came to just under 18GBP for the food for the two of us, which was not bad for a 5 star hotel!

This is an Italian restaurant, located in the Sonesta St George hotel, on the lobby level. It has a nice atmosphere with a piano player. We were sat by big windows looking out onto the pool and Nile, it would have been nice to visit during the day as well, but we didn’t have time.

This is an excellent restaurant! It is next to the Meridien hotel. We had soup for starters, a main course each and rice each, which came to less than 10 GBP! There was also a little show put on of a waiter serving burning Irish coffee, so the lights dim while he does his party trick!

This restaurant is more or less opposite the Sonesta St George hotel and is supposed to be based on an English pub. It wasn’t bad! The food was good and very cheap! Eg I had a pizza for only 1.80 GBP!

For the best pizza in Luxor, head to Golden Pizza.
All pizzas are freshly baked in front of you and so are wonderfuly fresh.
For dessert, leave room for fateer - Egyptian pancake which you can have with fruit, mixed nuts or - delicious - honey and cream.

This is the last meal (dinner) we had in Luxor before getting on an overnight train back to Cairo. My tour mates suggested to go to this Chinese restaurant here. Well, it was quiet, only 2 tables of customers including us, and I didn't see any Chinese staff here. I ordered a fry bamboo shoot with pork and rice. I was surprise they actually have good food here. Not bad.

Nice and clean little restaurant, open 24hrs. The food is lovely and the staff is very friendly. Besides the regular Arabic/English menu list, they also have one with all menu items in German, French and Dutch! Good place for lunch, but they do dinner as well.
Favorite Dish: Lentil soup, shawrma sandwich.
