Law Enforcement: Ladies. Please Shout when you are touched
  • Tip Rating:
  • Please try to understand what i will say.

In any society there are the goods and bads. In some cases you meet one or both. A European friend of mine (a lady) was travelling to sharm with the bus and when she arrived and we met she was very nervous about something. Do you want to know what?
    Well.
She was complaining from a stupid man who was sitting in the seat behind her. the man kept touching her hair and body.
She paniced to the extent that she couldnt handle the situation in the right way.
My advice to her and to you of course is the following: If the above happens to you, please go straight to the bus driver and make your complaint . If the driver didnt make any firm action, then wait till you reach the police check point (there are many of them on the road and the policemen comes up to the bus to check IDs) and make a report. The stupid man will be grapped and face problems.

Please dont be silent towards such acts cause your silence can generate real troubles not only to you but to the Egyptian tourism industry.

Law Enforcement: Policing in and around Luxor
  • Tip Rating:
  • You probably wont know if you have never been but this is the run down on the authorities.

    Tourist & Antiquities Police:

Found at most sites and in hotel receptions apparently there to help the tourists but finding one that speaks English may be difficult. These guys are not really police they are a private security firm that operates out of Cairo. Yes they have guns, yes they wear police uniforms no they are not the official police.

    Traffic Police:

These guys stand at most junctions, picking their noses, smoking, blowing their whistles and generally ignoring every aspect of road safety ever concieved.

    Transport Police:

These guys are the same as our British Transport Police. The majority of them wear civilians and are easily identifiable by the bulging H&K automatic weapon they carry under their jackets. If you get a problm on the train these guys are somewhere...ask a conductor.

    Police Police:

Ah the real McCoy. You will probably only see these guys if you are having serious problems or having done something really naughty you are on your way to a one way ticket to a re-make of Midnight Express.

    Militia:

Rarely seen riding around in converted pick ups. Green coveralls and some camouflage gear is all that is identifiable.

    Army:

Primarily only seen at the military controlled airport where...yes.....you are expected to tip the soldier that checks your passport on your ingress...otherwise you may not be leaving with a passport.

Law Enforcement: drugs in return for prison
Aswan is not the same like amsterdam and cristiano in denmark . You cant walk around in a place to choose and buy some joints and other drugs.

It is illegal here in Egypt to buy, sell or smoke and use drugs.

The punishment reach capital punishment for dealers and maximum 6 years for users.

This doesnt mean that there is no access to smoking in Egypt but there are lots of people who do smoke hash and marijuana.

Dont get trapped with useless people.

    NOT IN PUBLIC
