We were not alone, there were other tourists during this trip to Abu Simbel, I say a full mini bus
Very early in the morning around 3 am our guide waiting with us together with another group, there were many tourist buses as well, that leave on the same hour

We were surprise, as we did not expected an army with guns in our bus, so our guide explain about the army with guns, is just a precautions he said, it happens before that ambush during the trip to a dessert road early in the morning

This is an archeological site and it is now registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, they are also called the Nubian Monuments. The entire temple is marked as a courtyard and enclosed on the north and south side by walls. The Abu Simbel is known for its beauty, mystery and architectural knowledge
Is not to be miss while in Egypt

Almost a half day trip from Luxor, we spend more time back and forth in a bus than walking in the temple itself
Indeed when we arrive, there were not yet too many tourists. When you are at the entrance there were many local guide that take you inside, but if you don't want to have one you are free to walk on your own

Temple dedicated to Egyptian gods Ra-Harakhty, Amun, Ptah and Ramses himself.

Beside the awe-inspiring sight of the four colossal statues of Ramses, this temple was painstakingly rescued from 1964 to 1968 as it was going to be flooded by the building of the high dam, which aimed to control the Nile's flooding. It was raised 60m by experts.

    Amada Tempel

    Amada Tempel

On the shores of Lake Nasser this magnificent tempel was rebuilt. Only to be reached by cruise or by road. But the road trip can be tricky! You need to organize it on your own and organize the needed police guidance as well.

But it is a unique tempel. The tempel was used as a Christian church, but in stead of demolishing the decoration they chose to cover it with chalk and, thus, did us a great favour. The chalk preserved the magnificent works of art. Now it is removed and clear to be seen in all its beauty.
