A man kissing another man on the cheeks in the street is common cause this is the way Egyptian men greet each others. The strange thing is a man kissing a lady hi or goodbye. Some of my foreign friends asked me weather i am a gay and i was completly surprised cause i am not, they told me why do you keep kissing your men friends.
Dont fall into this trap.
This man sell tea. We met him on the market (souk). He have a big thermos with hot tea on his back. And by the green belt he have little glasses for tea. I like his dress very much.
If you whant make a foto for someone in Egypt you must ask about consent. And you must give money for it (bakshish)... but this tea seller.... he don`t whanted money for this photo :)
Courtesy of our hotel attendance was excellent. They were there every time where we expected and needed them. Our friend-of-the-days was Sherif, the hotel counter. He was everywhere. In the morning - in the breakfast lounge, during the day - lunch lounge, bars, swimming pool, in the evening - dinner lounge and around midnight - discotheque. "At your service" he use to says. Dule met him one day in the hall and told him: "Look Sherif, I'm going now to India and I don't want to see you there". He accepted a joke with a smile. Also, he was worry about me when I stayed one day in my room 'cause I had heat. He explained to Nina what I have to use to make me better.
"Shisha" is the "instrument" for smoking. It is usual thing in Arabian world. Somewhere they call it "Nargila". So, you can try different tastes such as cappuccino, apple, coconut... The smoke is cold because in the bottom part of shisha is water. On the top, there is piece of charcoal and the tobacco on it.
Smoking the waterpipe, we tried it with an apple flavour, but personally I did not like it very much.
We had most fun when my 7 years old son wanted to try this pipe. The look on his face was CRAZY !
They also made a animal-shaped figure out of our towels and put it in the shower! I had a good laugh when i entered the shower! :-)
If you choose to go into a shop in Hurghada, especially the 1 selling perfumes, you'll be asked to drink a cup of herbal tea with the owner. Don't refuse! It's their way of saying 'welcome'.
