Giftun Island is an island a few kilometres of shore Hurghada.
The only thing you find over here is sand a few tourist shops, a bar/restaurant and destroyed coral reefs.
The largest part of the island is no go area or private beach, only a stretch of 300 meters is reserved for public use.
Most snorkel trips and diving trips take place in this area and they always make a 2 hours stop at the island.
Many people say it is paradise, but I think it is big joke.

    Tea on Sahara
In the beduins village the beduins treat us to mint and hibiscus tea. This is the best drink when is hot!!!! Arabian tea is mostly very sweet. Our guide told us, we need in this climate drink sweeten drinks.
In this village was too a shop for tourists with mineral water and ... coca cola.

There are excursions to Cairo as well, but they are exhausting - the bus leaves at 3 am, and you are back to Hurghada after midnight. It;s a 5 hour drive to cairo, and there you are basically running, you are visiting just the great pyramids plateau, Sphinx, and the Egyptian museum, with a lunch organized nearby. I suggest to take more days in Cairo. :)

From Hurghada it is quite near to go to Luxor and explore the fascinating world of the ancient Egypt - Karnak, valley of kings, queens, the Hatshepsut temple, colossi, etc.
The buses go in organized tours, in convoys that can number even 200 buses (!) in the police escort.

Camels are indispensable part of tourist landscapes in Egypt. They can be seen in all places of tourist congestions: near sights, parking of buses, on beaches of hotels.

I have got acquainted with this camel on a beach of the hotel "Hor Palace". His name is Felix. He is four years old (rather young!). A walk on a camel has been offered to me for 30LE ($6). I think it is possible to agree more cheaply. I did not have a desire to go for a drive on a camel. Therefore I have photographed him for 1LE.

The beduin`s women make the beduin`s bread. There on Sahara they haven`t wood or coal..... so they use for fire ...... dry camel`s excrement. You can try here to make the bread. The bread this is a thin cake. After you can taste this bread.

  • Hurghada is not the same like amsterdam and cristiano in denmark . You cant walk around in a place to choose and buy some joints and other drugs. It is illegal here in Egypt to buy, sell or smoke and use drugs. The punishment reach capital punishment for dealers and maximum 6 years for users.

This doesnt mean that there is no access to smoking in Egypt but there are lots of people who do smoke hash and marijuana.

A trip out to this protected island was bliss. The boat cruising across the perfect blue sea. As we approached the island all we could see were birds. We landed and walked around the island. It is a place where you must take nothing and leave nothing- except footprints.
There is a mangrove area, which is one reason the island is a conservation area.
After walking in the heat and sand, it was great to just wallow in the shallows

    Goebbels boat

Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels (October 29, 1897 – May 1, 1945) was Adolf Hitler's Propaganda Minister (see Propagandaministerium) in Nazi Germany. Following Hitler's death he served as Chancellor for one day, approved the murder of his six children and committed suicide.

Goebbels was known for his zealous and energetic oratory, virulent anti-Semitism and perfection of the so-called Big Lie technique of mass propaganda.

Local people say that this boat belonged to him!!!
