Snorkeling was a great experiance. I got to see the unbeliveable colors and shapes that were available to me only on Discovery Chanel and Animal Planet. Unfortunatly, the dispozable underwater camera I had wasn't very good, so it didn't catch the beauty of all these colors plus much of it was taken away in scanning process. But still, take a look at this pic. Pretty amazing, isn't it?

There are MANY surrounding Hurgada, you can choose! Whatever you pick, you won't regret it! Long, deserted beaches, lots of fish, corals, shells, turquoise water... Some are very touristy and commercial, so I suggest to avoid them, although that can be fun as well, it all depends what you're looking for.

The corals are simply breathtaking! There are both soft and hard ones, of all colours. Some of them are poisonous, so beware! Some might be harmful if you step on them. Whatever you do, DO NOT BREAK THE CORALS!
Some are hiding little fish inside!

Once you get under water you loose track of time. Fish all around you, looking funny, and corals wherever you turn. But be careful with corals. First of all, they are protected like all Red Sea marine life. Do not try to take them out, because you can get in trouble. Don't even try to step on them, because you can harm them in that way too. Second, they are very sharp and you can cut yourself, so try not to swimm too near them, because it's very difficult to measure the distance underwater.
I have been told that everything is "friendly" in the Red Sea... Take a look at my next tip.

Small coral islands are everywhere around Giftun Islands. They are still under water. And that's it. They are "home of the colours". Snorkeling or diving here will make you think that you were handicapped, that you haven't seen all colours in your life.
So,
DIVE or DIE!
