For most of the people the Arabic language could be a major problem.
    Luckily they translate almost everything.
Though most of the price labels are only in Arabic, but I know why!
You'd better learn the Arabic digits/ciphers before you leave, so you always know what to pay before you buy it.

Hurghada - My poor legs on the
    sun

The main danger in Hurghada is the hot African sun. I understood that only one hour on the sun can be enough to scorch dangerously. Therefore in day of arrival I acted reasonably and sunbathing on a beach disappeared in a shadow the most part of time. My body has got slightly pinkish shade.

The next excursion days of my travel the struggle against the sun passed with variable success. When I returned to Hurghada in the evening of penultimate day I decided that I managed to win the hot Egyptian sun.
Therefore next last day in Egypt I decided to stay on the sun hardly more time that the pinkish shade of my sunburn has turned to a brown shade.

I was wrong! The sun has revenged me for disrespect and I have come back home to Moscow red as a cancer. Two days I came to the senses and only for the third day felt that returned to a normal life. Be afraid of the sun in Hurghada!

You may see the beach where I spent two days on my Hurghada Hor Palace Beach VIDEO with Shag Rugge music from my personal YouTube channel. After opening the VIDEO please press the right bottom button on the screen for expansion of the image in all screen.

You must be carefull. In the water can you meet a sea urchin.... and this meeting can be not to pleasant!!! You can buy special rubber shoes in Hurghada.
This one on foto was very near of the beach.
In the water there are too stone fishes... very dengerous... They look as stone on sea bottom... if you step of this fish - you can die, becouse its poison is very poisonous!!!!! Take care!!!!!

  • Please try to understand what i will say.
In any society there are the goods and bads. In some cases you meet one or both. A European friend of mine (a lady) was travelling to sharm with the bus and when she arrived and we met she was very nervous about something. Do you want to know what?
    Well.
She was complaining from a stupid man who was sitting in the seat behind her. the man kept touching her hair and body.
She paniced to the extent that she couldnt handle the situation in the right way.
My advice to her and to you of course is the following: If the above happens to you, please go straight to the bus driver and make your complaint . If the driver didnt make any firm action, then wait till you reach the police check point (there are many of them on the road and the policemen comes up to the bus to check IDs) and make a report. The stupid man will be grapped and face problems.
Please dont be silent towards such acts cause your silence can generate real troubles not only to you but to the Egyptian tourism industry.

    The water or food sickness

  • Well, this is something the most of you already know. Avoid any contact with a tap water. No ice, no veg or fruits if you can't peal or cook them..
But if you get sic follow this advice please!!!
First day when you arrive in Egypt go to any pharmacy and buy ENTOCID ( pronounce- entoseed ) tablets. The pack of 8 costs only 2 LE . On the first sighn of sicknes drink at once 2 tablets and after take them for few days, one in the morning and one in the evening. (although the problems are most likely to stop in few hours after first two)
Belive me it is working. The advice was given to us from Serbian guide who lives there for last 8 years.

I have to put this tip on all of my Egypt pages.

    Kissing in Public

  • As you know, when u r in Rome, Walk like the Romans do. Eventhough Egypt is kind of liberal and a touristic place, still it is part of the arab islamic community. This takes us to the fact that public display of affections is not so much appreciated in the streets. You might not be stopped by the police (it is illegal but they let you go), but you will be harrased for kissing your partner and many will be watching the scene.
Be patient till u r not in public.
    Have Fun, kiss much.

Shadwan has a military camp on its southern end and has been mined considerably. It is unlikely that you get a ride there as most charterboat captains avoid it with a passion. There have been incidents of the military shooting their AK47’s at boats in the area. If you do go, the eastern bay (GPS Position) is the only bay we have as yet found which offers shelter from the wind, except for the 1km long white sandy beach which acts as a spit and reaches out into the sea, making for perfect flat water speeding and kiting. Yet don’t go for long walks too far from the beach as the area still has not been cleared from landmines!!!

  • I left my wife alone for a few seconds and she was hassled by slimey Egyptian guys at the airport and in the museams!!

Even the waiters and animators at the hotel try it on with the ladies even if you are standing arm in arm, which I think is VERY rude! I came close to hitting several of the staff at the hotel!!

  • What is wrong with people? Are they all stupid, AGAIN (see my Maldives page) please do not throw litter around the natural environment! Animals can eat it and die and you are polluting the world! Once these things die from our world we will never be able to get them back! TAKE CARE!

Beware of the sun! Any time a year! It gets to your head, and you can burn without noticing, or suffer from a sun stroke. For people with delicate skin and white complexion, it is extremely dangerous to stay under the sun a lot. So be sure to hide under the shadow and bring a lot of sunscreen!
In case you do get burnt, buy in the local shop lotus flower oil, in ten minutes it cures the red surface, like a miracle! I tried!!!
(The strangling on the photo has nothing to do with dangers, though! My friends were just playing around. IN THE SHADOW!!!)
