Taxis Fares, Hurghada

Frst of all, they are maniacs on the road ! Prepare yourself fot crasy ride.
Now, how to use taxi all over the Egypt:
1.Agree the deal before entering the vhiacle
2.Sit behind
3.Pay trough the window after leaving the car
4.If they still complain, just walk away
5.In extreme cases just tell you are going to call tourist police (this one will surely help)

When you take a taxi to drive to somewhere, please take care on the prices. Always make the price totally clear before! The taxi drivers always say, that they are so poor or having 4 kids and such stories just that tourist accept their high prices. for example, taxi no matter how much person, from Grand Resort to Sekala, not more than 15 egyp! If they would use the taximeter it would be just 6 egyp, but no taxi driver do that

IF U GO WITH TAXI , BE CAREFULL WHEN U PAY , SOMETIMES IT LL BE POSSIBLE THAT SOME DRIVERS SAY THAT YOU VE GIVEN A 50 PIASTER BILL AND NOT A 50 POUND BILL . THAT IS THE MOST POPULAR TRICK IN THAT AREA !!!

Like in most tourist countrys bevare of the taxi drivers and their talk. BE SURE TO SET A PRICE FOR THE RIDE BEFORE YOU GET IN TO THE CAB Otherwise the cab driver can charge you what amount he wants, there is no meters in the taxis in Hurghada!!!!!

Taxi drivers will always try to over charge you and rip you off. Never get in an orange cab without correct change as they will pull a fast one on you. You give them a 100LE they will say no that's a 10LE. You look down and IT IS a 10LE!! very fast rip off! Also you may agree 10 pounds on a taxi and when you reach your destination they will say that's 10 pound per person, or 10 euros etc. Its all rubbish. Here are the rules.

Village Road - Sekalla 10LE (vice versa)
Hurghada - Magawish 20LE (vice versa)
Hurghada - Sahl Hasheesh 40LE (vice versa)
Hurghada - El Gouna 40LE (vice Versa)

Sahl Hasheesh and El Gouna are 25km from Hurghada and a 30 minute journey. So anywhere close should cost a lot less.

Without doubt find a private hire taxi and stick with one driver/firm during your visit. Also very important, if a driver does try to rip you off, or you feel uncomfortable for any reason at all (speeding etc) just ask him to stop. Then get out, and ask him politely to leave. Another cab will come along in 30 seconds.
