    I feel safer walking around Alexandria then I am in Cairo. We were not approached by streethunters who want to offer their transport, souvenirs, or tour guiding. More young ones to be seen on the street, apparently the students. You may see many young couples at the beach. Beautiful people with full of smiles, greetings, and their warm welcome.

    Sarchopagus is a case where they put the body for mummification. The mummified bodies will be kept in their sarchopagus for many days and will be the `coffin` in their tombs.It is interesting to see Alxandria sarhopagus. I was surprised to see this granite one in Alexandria as other ones mostly from limestone. My travelmate was yelling at me sometimes though, `Oh my, you are collecting the coffin pictures!!!`:-))

    You will see beautiful beach of Alexandria all along the corniche. Take some walk at the citadel beach area. The waves were blocked by the rocks on that area. You may sprinkled yourself with some water!!! There will be sandy beach nearby the university and library area. It will be windy there, get ready to be breeze and chill out. Beautiful waves to see.

    In Egypt you will see these type of posters all about: pictures of Egyptian President Hosni Mubark with some historical, scenic or otherwise noteworthy image in the back ground... I dont know, it may just be me, but he sure has the visage, such that I do not believe that he would look so out of place in one of the three Hollywood Godfather movies..... Hosni Corleone ???

    It is said than when you visit Alexandria, you must try the fresh fish on the riverfront. And you know how it is.... If you must, then you must.... And so I did... I have already all over Egypt for about 10 days at that point, and figured that my stomach was impervious to their food. The famous fish of Alexandria begged to differ however. I didnt really get falling-down food poisoned sick, though I was feeling the effects for a few days there after. (I was scheduled to go diving 2 days there after in Sharm, and it took all I had to keep that appointment.)

    Once the ancient egyptians got the technique down, I do believe that they started going a bit overboard. These guys would mummify most anything... Here is a full grown nile croc all pickled for future generations to marvel out... (What shiny nice teeth you have, Mr. Prehistoric Gator....)

    The winding, narrow streets of Alexandria really look like it would be challenge to navigate if one were to try to drive them selves. Especially when you throw street cars, and scads of them yellow and black taxis into the mix. The area around Pompey's Pillar and the Catacombs looks particularly challenging. (with big tour buses thrown into the local mix of traffic on quite narrow alleys...)

    Don't miss a beautiful walk by the peer! It's something most enjoyable, with the scent of the sea and freshness coming from the Mediterranean, and palm trees along the way. There is a lot of wind and big waves always (at least when I've been there), but it just adds to the atmosphere. It's a very relaxing and pleasurable walk.

    As I’ve heard a lot about Alexandria Lighthouse and Library, I’ve heard nothing about its beautiful Corniche! It occupies almost 20 kilometers of wonderful beaches. The avenue did not always exist there, for until the XX-th century, the areas remained fortified by a five mile long wall with towers which had protected the city since the XIIIth century. In the early 1900s, a strip of land with a width of about 100 meters was reclaimed from the sea, and the area became popular. Now the Corniche became the highlight of Alexandria and attract tourists nor least than its historical sights. If I would choose between Hurghada for example and Alexandria for having a beach rest I would prefer Alexandria.
