The shopping street Safiyya Zaghloul is packed with people in the late evening, at least in summer evenings when I was there. Some people are just walking up and down the street, and others are there for shopping. My last evening in Alexandria I entered almost every shoe shop on the street, and they are many, without finding what I wanted. On a side street south of McDonald’s I found an Internet café with good connection and it was 2 pounds an hour. In the area father to the south there are many restaurants, cinemas and theatres. The Spitfire Bar, for drinks with friends (it would not be much fun alone) For a city of several millions, Alexandria is an extraordinarily hard place in which to get a drink! Apart from the Spitfire Bar and the Portuguese Club' (which also goes by the names of the 'Portuguese General Association' club and 'Carlos' Bar'), there is, apparently, a well known bar on Hurriya (one of the main avenues), called 'Bar Havana', which however, is unmarked by any sign. No doubt the main guidebooks would have the address. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingDirections: The Spitfire Bar is central. Most guidebooks will have the address. It's near Ramla, about three or four minutes walk from there or the Cecil and the main square.
