Many of the tourists are rushing to Alexandria only to have a look at the remaining of the famous Pharos Lighthouse. Only few know that nothing has remained till now. Now tourists may watch a modern lighthouse not far from the Muntaza Park and imagine the ancient prototype as it could be seen from this point. So did I!
I think that in a few years the remaining of the Lighthouse will be happily found and the amount of tourists rushing to Alexandria will certainly increase! That is a law of tourist business which, as I could see, operates well in Luxor, Aswan, Edfu and other Egyptian “ancient” sights.
On the way from Quait-Bey Fort to Bibliotheca Alexandrina you can take a nice walk on Alexandria’s Cornish.
The modern Cornish is margined on one side by buildings and stores with an European architecture and on the other side by Mediterranean Sea
It feels like walking in an African Cannes.
