 | | | | coffee shops: tea/pastry in Sofitel Cecil Alexadria lobby | Satisfaction: | | | | |
If you're into Agatha Christie, then you must come and spend even just a little time in this hotel and have a cup of tea and a pastry. The hotel, I was told, was restored to its former glory, with almost everything refurbished to keep it in its original condition and placement. The lobby was airy, with old-fashioned windows and curtains typical of the British Empire age. Complementing the formal look of the lobby was the well-dressed customers, including the children, lounging around having their own cup of tea and whatever else. In short, you need to slightly dress up to avoid looking out-of-place. Despite being dressed as if we were about to go hiking, my fellow traveller and I managed to have a nice, relaxing time.
We spent about an hour here. The ordering process, as well as checking out, was slightly slow. The prices, however, were decent considering the restaurant/coffee shop was located inside a relatively expensive hotel. We ordered French pastries, which were equally decent.
