Make sure to go there if you have no other choice... :) And do not expect to enjoy the quality of western McDonalds' food, even ice-cream... Instead, expect to eat your food in a company of cats if you prefer the outside area...

GAD is a en Egyptian chain of restaurants, having many spots all over Alexandria, Cairo, as well as in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and UAE.
The original and 1st restaurant though is the subject of this theme. It is located in Mahmoud Azmi Street (Rue Mahmoud Azmi) downtown next to the Alitalia office and in front of the Central Bank of Egypt.
From outside it doesn't look appealing as you'll find it crowded with people buying all kinds of Sandwiches, but just take a step and go inside you'll find a hall with almost 120-150 seats. They have a very rich menu of Grilled meat, chicken, all kinds local Foul and Falafel, Eggs, and some successful attempts to offer international cuisine such as Escapole Panee' ..etc.
Prices are EXCELLENT for the portions you get, and the quality of the food is superb.
Example: 1 main dish + soup + 4 salads + drink (coke..etc) + bread = +/- 8 US$ ( 50 LE.)
Favorite Dish: 1) Boneless Chicken (in local Arabic dialect they say Feraakh Makhleyya) and ask for Noss Feraakh Makhleyya, which means 1/2 boneless chicken.
2) Gad Rice: It is rice with almonds, raisans and chicken liver.
3) Foul with Tehina: local fava beans with chickpeas salad.

If you are looking for some vegetarian fast food. Try Pizza hut near standley bridge or near sofitel hotel. Or try french fries at Mcdonalds near same locations as above.
Most of the fast food joints including above and dominos are on Corniche road (Sea Side)
Favorite Dish: Veg Pizza

This was the best restaurant we found in Alexandria and the meal we had was superb. You choose your fish and seafood from a huge counter where everything is beautifully laid out on ice and the chefs then prepare it for you on the spot. All the dishes came with a lovely amount of extras such as hummus, chickpea salads, cheese and all sorts of fresh breads. The views from this restaurant are an extra delight as you look straight out across the Mediteranian sea, so you can spend your meal watching the fishing boats coming in and out. All the other customers appeared to be well dressed locals and I wouldn't turn up here in shorts and t-shirt. But the atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff were relaxed and friendly.

The restaurant is in a complex next door to the Fishmarket Restaurant. It is clean and well situated to view the bay. Service is good and the food excellent. with a wide choice of dishes on the menu. Salad is selected from the buffet and again there is a wide choice.
It is up to most international standards.
Favorite Dish: The salads were excellent. We had a selection of kufta and kebab, mixed grill, and for the seafoood afficionados the calamari was greatly appreciated [best ever].

These fresh fruit juice bars can be found all over the city on the streets. My girlfriend wanted to try a mango juice so we did, and it was really tasty. Not the light, "water with mango flavour" drink, but real fruit juice. It is refreshing no matter how heavy it seems at first.
They also have a special drink made out of sugar-cane, which is also very interesting, but did not make me a fan...
Favorite Dish: Try the Mango juice, that's the best without question!

Alexandra Dive Centre has a good location in the Eastern Harbour. Except Tika Chicken next to the dive centre there are no other places for eating or drinking just by the sea (along the Cornish there is the beach, the street and then the cafes and restaurants).
It is nice to sit here, away from the traffic. Normally the dive centre doesn’t serve food, but only drinks. But when I was there to ask for the diving I was very hungry and they brought me food from somewhere else. I had chicken and chips and a coke for 20 pounds.
When you dive lunch is included in the price and served after the dives. This is very good as it is nice to sit down and relax after the diving and have time to chat with your fellow divers.

It is not a touristy place. Our driver/guide suggested this place....and luckily we had a great time. It is not a fine dining restaurant....surroundings not clean though but the staff are friendly.
