The area in Duqqi called Suliman Gawher is a typical local market. Fruit, vegetables and fish were on sale the Ffriday afternoon we ventured in. There are narrow roads and old buildings, but the produce sellers sit on the ground or on old chairs and display their goods. Fish sellers have carts, and cats congregate in expectation.
Prices are a fraction of those in proper shops and supermarkets like Metro, though stalls in other areas may be a bit more expensive. With quick turnover the produce is fresh.
There are other shops and mechanical workshops in the area, so there much to see, even if you have no interest in buying. The salesmen and women tend to be dressed in traditional ways
What to buy: Fruit and vegetables
What to pay: much less than in the general market and shops.
I found this shop by coincidence in 2002 and ever since I shop for all my souvenirs and home accessories from it.
I believe it has better prices than most touristic places(such Khan El Khalil)though the prices are fixed,,but it`s very well priced,
it serves locals not tourists only.
It has another branch in Sharm El Shiekh too.
What to buy: I bought lamps, rugs, paintings, pictures, wallets, and earrings
What to pay: Not much, everything is well priced
