There has been so much development and so many changes in the past few years. Many of the original villas are being demolished and high rise apartments are going up. This is because of the influx of professional Iraqis leaving their country for asylum abroad.
Shops and business seem to change every few months. We used to get great Chinese takeaways from a cafe called Panda. A year later it was a shop selling fancy dress costumes. In the 6 months I was away [Aug 2006- Feb 2007] it had turned into a Mobile Phone shop. This is normal. My favourite hairdresser's is now a pharmacy. A good stationer's is now a painting and decorating shop.
So tips may become obsolete very quickly.

Duqqi is one of the suburbs across the Nile from the Down Town area. These areas [Duqqi, Mohandasin and Imbaba] started out as midldle class areas with tree-lined streets and villas. To some extent......

This is how you will see it written in most signs in Cairo...one my favoraite places with in greater Cairo. This is a picture of a shop that I always purchase my gifts from..it`s called Bashayyer.
