    Khafre's Pyramid at Night

    The commentary might not impress you, but the dazzling light show and awe-inspiring backdrop of the Sphinx and Pyramids was very entertaining. Plus, it was just cool to see the pyramids at night! Three times a night in three different languages, the Sphinx plays the role of storyteller, narrating the history of ancient Egypt. Shows are held in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Arabic. Call ahead to check the time of the performance you want to attend; private viewing times can be arranged.

    Admission: 44EGP for foreign translation shows. They will also charge you 20EGP to bring in a video camera.

    Hours - Winter: 6:30 pm, 7:30pm, 8:30 pm daily;
    summer: 8:30pm, 9:30pm, 10:30pm daily

    Dress Code: Bring a sweater for the cooler evenings. (Even in May, I was wishing for long sleeves!)

    The pyramids and the Sphinx are floodlit at night. Light and Sound Show performances are given in the area to the southeast of the Sphinx.

    For many years, the Sound and Light Show at Giza opened with, "You have come tonight to the most fabulous and celebrated place in the world. Here on the Plateau of Giza stands forever the mightiest of human achievements. No traveler, emperor, merchant or poet has trodden on these sands and not gasped in awe".

    The show lasts about an hour. It costs 100LE ($20), video permission 35 LE ($7).

    Often there are performances of all kinds (concerts, theatre plays, ballet...) and night shows at the Giza plateau. A spectacular experience!
    The most pompous was the performance of Verdi's Aida that is ritually being held here every now and then, and the most beautiful common event is the regular light show every evening.

    Giza Pyramids: Laser light show

    Although some of the special effects and the music is kinda cheesy the laser light show at the pyramids is definatly worth it. You learn alot about the history of the pyramids, as in when, why and who built each one they also talk about the 3 Pharoahs each of whom built there own Pyramid and some of the rich's that were beleived to be in the pyramids before the tomb raiders pilaged them.

    Dress Code: No dress code although like everything else in Egypt the do charge if you want to film.
