There are a number of little shops selling jellabiyas for women. In all you need to bargain.
The jellabiyas are made in the village of Kerdassa and sold there at a better price than in Cairo.
Much of the embroidery is machine done nowadays , but there are still some hand embridered garments available - at a price.

What to buy: Jellabiyas for women can be elegant enough for evening wear, or simple for wearing while working around the house. I find the good for covering up when on the beach.

What to pay: A long sleeved jellabiya with elaborate embroidery can be 55 Egy. pounds or more, but you might get one for 45 after a hard bargain. The argument is always ' the work involved'.
A short sleeved jellabiya with less pattern can be 35 Egy pounds. Much less than 10$.

A few shops at Kerdassa sell handwoven goods like cushion covers, rugs and carpets. The area is famous for its carpet schools where children learn the art of weaving carpets while following their normal education. I used to consider this a form of child labour but now realise that the children are in fact learning a skill, and many have set up their own businesses.
Other shops may have a variety of goods for sale [souvenirs, musical instruments, belly dancer costumes, camels] as well as cushions and carpets.

What to buy: Small garish rugs designed and woven by children make an attractive wall hanging.

What to pay: Prices depend on the design and size, so always bargain.
