old grafiti

In the House of South you can see two graffities which were left there by visitors about 1500 years after Zoser's funerary and they were wrote with hierogliphs.
Unfortunately I've seen some other graffities as well which were left just days before I was there and those did not impress me at all ...

The Step Pyramid

The Step Pyramid of Zoser was the first pyramid that was built and because of that is not a real pyramid but it is having it's typical stepps! The first real pyramid (no stepps) is the Bent Pyramid from Dashour ... and can be seen from Saqqara!

False entrance of Zoser Step Pyramid

In order to get a peaceful rest and to safeguard belongings, all pyramids have their false entrances to confuse and discourage Lara Croft... err, I mean tomb raiders...

This false entrance descend roughly 250 meter, it effectively protect the Zoser Step Pyramid for more than 4000 years until recent excavation by archeologists. This was made possible as time is always not on tomb raiders' sides and the actual entrance lies just besides this false one.

Statue in western side of Zoser Pyramid

Located at the western side of the Zoser Step Pyramid lies a statue concealed by the authority.

One side of the "protection chamber" is plastic allowing lights to go through. Tourists can peep through a hole from the front as shown in the picture.

From the statue's wig and false beard, we can conclude that it depicts a royal member of the Old Kingdoms.
