Favorite thing:
We enjoyed two boat rides in Egypt. One was a motorized boat in Luxor. it would have been a felluca, but the wind was not strong enough at the time. However in Cairo, we did have conditions just right for a ride near sunset. We actually arranged our ride through one of the tour companies in conjuction with other activities. I figure it would no be too difficult to hire one of these boats for a little while. They will make a fine memory as you float on the calmness of the Nile amidst a very frantic city. The Nile is very scenic, whether it is in the middle of the city or in Upper Egypt. Sunset seems to be a good time as it is not too hot and a breeze can appear. Some may believe this to be too "touristy", but I really do believe that most people walk away from the felluca glad that they took the ride. I wish we had some of these in Texas!
Fondest memory:
Floating along the calmm peaceful waters of the ancient river Nile.
Favorite thing:
nile river is the longest river on earth, flowing from south to north, passing 7 countries in africa.
only 5% of egypt can be inhabited, this is the area along the nile. so it's often said that egypt is the gift from the nile.
every year the nile floods but since the aswan was built it's never flood anymore.
the elite area in cairo is the one that has view to the nile.
Favorite thing: There are many travel agencies around in the downtown area. As the pic shows, you can take few days of apckages: a 5 star cruise in upper Nile for $209, or fulecca trips for $99. They also rent car + driver for EUR30 per day. Just look around to find something which suits you.
Favorite thing:
The busyness, the activity, the friendliness of the people, The so muchness of the so many things to see and do, the inexpensiveness and value for your money.
Fondest memory:
The people, the difference of culture, the lack of society contraints, at least for some of us. I think for me, Egypt is a place that frees the mind.
Favorite thing: Walk around in the Cairo and you won't regret. People are friendly and helpful. One guy stopped all the cars on the road in order to help us to cross the road. We were standing there nearly 15 minutes already :-)
Favorite thing: Along with the Pyramids, Cairo is associated with the River Nile. Desert only a few miles from its banks, the Nile dictates Egyptian lives. The city sprawls for many miles in both directions. Surprisingly, there are few opportunities to reach the water's edge in the city itself.
Favorite thing:
Make a boat trip along the Nile.
Fondest memory:
The boat itself is gorgeous - two-storeyed, decorated with Oriental ornamental pattern. I enjoyed the music and belly-dancers, the entertainment was lavish - it was really a festival! Only one paradox - the air conditioning was so strong that we would go out to the deck to get some warmth!
Favorite thing:
before the cairo take cruise from luxor to assuan by the nile;its wonderfull!
'cause u see the most beatifull view u can imagine: the green-blue of the nile; then for a 100 m. green of the trees and after that the yellow of the desert...
Favorite thing:
Take a Nile Cruise in One of the oldest and most famous of the city’s cruising restaurants. Buffet dining with an international flavor. Good selection of appetizers and entrees (grilled meats, chicken and fish) and excellent desserts. The deck is the place for sunset aperitifs and after-dinner digestifs. Daily cruises 2:30-4 pm, 7:30-9:30 pm and 10 pm-midnight. $$. Most major credit cards. For reservations, call 354-3198.
