Felfela Take Away by pangtidor I thought it was only an ordinary take away cafe in Giza. After reading the tips from other members, I found out that Felfela is a chain restaurant actually. Anyway, the one I am going to write is Felfela cafe, JUST FOR TAKE AWAY, in Giza near the pyramids. I and my friend took the step pyramids, Giza tour and shopping, and sound and the light show within a day so eating our lunch in a restaurant could waste our time in Giza. Drop by in Felfela cafe to take your food and eat your lunch in the car when you go to the pyramids. Eating in the car will be ok for most of the tour cars. There will be many people in that cafe. You just go to the cashier first and ask her/his advices for your meal, they can speak English well. Pay your meal, collect your coupon, and give your it to the attendants, on the sides of the cashier. Your meal will be ready within a minute. It is located on the main road and having limited parking area. Well, it is only a fast food take away cafe, you can not accept more. Anyway, the taste is good and you could spend more time in the pyramids instead of the restaurant.:-))
Try shawarma chicken, a sandwich with marinated chicken grill filling. Shishtawouk is a good choice for a heavier meal. There is a big pancake with the honey on top. I forget what the name is. view from our table by sue_stone On the day we visited the Pyramids and Sphinx we finished up with lunch at a buffet restaurant located right by the Sphinx. The choice of food was quite good, but the main draw card here was the view - check out the photo to see what we had to look at during our meal - you can't complain about that!! The service wasn't too friendly though - the second we finished eating they cleared all our plates and started to re-set the table for the next diners....even though half the restaurant was empty!! When we made a joke about them perhaps waiting until we left, the music was suddenly turned up incredibly loud, right out of the speaker pointing at our table. As soon as we got up to leave, the music returned to its previous lower volume. Whirling Dervish on the boat by sue_stone On our last night of our Egyptian tour our group had dinner on a crazy looking boat that cruised around the Nile in central Cairo. The cruise lasted for a couple of hours and during this time we feasted on a buffet of local (and not so local) delicacies, washed down with a glass or two of icy cold Egyptian beer. Entertainment during the cruise was varied - there was a belly dancer and, my favourite - a Whirling Dervish. We also enjoyed (touch of sarcasm here) a performance by the resident band accompanied by a couple singing covers of some popular classics with a little (too much) help from some children on board. To be honest we didn't really enjoy the cruise/dinner - it was noisy and didn't give us the chance to really converse with our fellow diners. It was an interesting experience however.....but should perhaps we listed under 'Tourist Traps' as well. Manoucheh by marimar_72 Because Lebanese blood runs through my veins I always crave for Lebanese food.. and the Manoucheh is one of the best ways to start a day (although it can be eaten at any time)...that is why this place is opend 24/7. The manouche is like a pizza but only coverd either with cheese only or Zaatar(it`s a herb like oregano),and nowadays,it has been improved and can use more ingredients. until last year I used to come home back from Cairo craving for a manoucheh,,but with this new place,I need not do this any more... it`s has the classical manoucheh and lot`s more.
You have the choice of having your manoucheh baked in an oven(Forn),,or made on a pan( saj )... The restaurant also offers other choices for people not too famelier with the manoucheh,,such as regular pizza, and baked eggs with sausages. They also have free delivery. Leave a Comment

Arabica cafe by marimar_72 I have found out this cafe recently,And I have loved it,the atmosphere, the service and the coffee is all just right. The best thing about it that all tables are coverd with white paper that you can draw on,they will provide you with crayons, pencils, erasers, even water clours and brushes. If you draw something really cool you might get a chance for it to be hanged on their walls,or even better,,you can participate in an auction where your drawing can be sold and the money goes to children suffering from cancer. cool huh?
The cafe has many light dishes(soups, salads and wraps) and has free home delivery , minimum charge applies. opens from 9am-2am. Taboula by marimar_72 Taboola is the famous Lebanese salad mainly made of parsely, tomatoe, and mint leaves... And from the name of this restaurant you can guess which cuisine it serves...Yes, Lebanese. It`s owned by the same company (Deyafa)that owns Abu el sid,Sangria, and other restaurants, which garentees good taste.
Shish Tauok and hummus dip (tastes exactly like my mom`s hummus). Leave a Comment

Phillies cafe by marimar_72 This cafe is now closed I used to pass this place all the time, but never came to mind to discover what it is,until the summer of 2004 with some friends of mine we had brunch there. it has a layed back atmosphere (by day)and very live and hip by night. It also serve Hooka(water pipe).(or as we Arabs call it Sheesha).

Felfela by Heavens-Mirror Felfela has English speaking staff which is a bonus & they sell tasty, reasonable priced Egyptian specialities. The restaurant caters for everyone but mainly tourists. It used to be strictly vegetarian but now sells meat dishes too. The food is delicious & i always return to Felfela everytime i go to Cairo. Its always busy which is a good sign of good food! Me & Noura (Egyptiandiamond) eating McDonalds by Heavens-Mirror, 2 more photos If your a fussy eater & dont really like to try the local cusine then no worries because Egypt has all the well know fast food restaurants from McDonalds, Pizza Hut & KFC....Not seen a Wimpy yet but im working on that one hehe. McDonalds being my favourite fast food was a treat for me when i was in Cairo, one day i fancied a burger so thought id pop in..... I was so shocked at the prices of everything, its incredibly cheap to eat here & the cost is less than half it is in England. For any medium sized meal which includes any burger of your choice, medium fries & a medium drink it only costs 10 Egyptian pounds!!! Yes you did read that right.
All the food is great here & tastes exactly the same as it does at home, my favourite is Big Mac & i also like Mc Chicken Sandwich. The fresh Ceasar salads are really nice too & also very cheap. McDonalds in Cairo also do delivery which i thought was quite amusing as ive never seen McDonalds delivery before...... And then even call it McDelivery hehehe!!
