The clerks might ask you to pay for the bill again even after you handed it to him the receipt for your order. The clerk might try to give you the meal you did not order instead.
Here is my experience from this afternoon. I went to Kazaz restaurant. I ordered Kazaz Special at the casher. Somehow, the guy at the casher mistook my order as Kazaz Special sandwitch (1.50LE). I told him the mistake and he asked me to communicate with the female casher next to him. She showed me the menu (written in both English and Arabic) and pointed me Kazaz special to make sure. I told her that was the one, and I asked if I can keep the menu for the order for the next time. By the way, there is no Kazaz Special Sandwitch, so I don't know which sandwich he tried to give me. For Kazaz Special receipt, I paid the bill to the female clerk. Then I went in to the restaurant and headed to the counter to the left. That counter is to order soups and other roasted items, so I thought that was the right place to make the order for Kazaz Special. The clerk saw my receipt and told me to go another one. So, I went to the counter in the center. The clerk took the receipt without asking me questions. Then he asked me if I want ketchup, and I was not sure what was ketchup was for but said yes. Then he tried to give me 2 French fries sandwiches. I told him that was a wrong order and said I ordered Kazaz Special to him. At that point, he was talking with a young guy wearing a jacket with the grim leaper on left shoulder. Then I talked with another clerk and I said I ordered Kazaz Special. Somehow, a customer fluent in English came and asked me what I want to order and then told me to pay it at the casher outside. I told him I already paid the bill and I gave the receipt to the clerk at the center casher. The clerk at the center casher tried to check for the receipt, but he could not find it. Then the same customer showed up again and asked me to pay it outside. At that point, the restaurant was quite crowded. Then the manager-like man wearing no uniform showed up from the room behind the center casher. I told him I ordered Kazaz Special and said that I gave the bill to the man at the center casher. Then the clerk at the counter to the right seemed to start cooking my order. I might brought the receipt to wrong counter twice, but somehow my meal seemed to be prepared. At that moment, I realized the surveillance cameras on the ceiling. So, I mentioned about reviewing the surveillance camera recording to check what happened to my receipt. I have been visiting this restaurants several times, but this was the first time I experienced. I wanted to mention this incidents to other tourists, so people would be aware of such incident.
My advice is that if you get into similar problem of "where is the receipt?" after giving it to one of the clerk perparing meal is try to ask them to review the surveillance camera video if they record any. That should help them stop asking the non-Arabic speaking tourists to pay again for the food. Also, keep asking the clerks to look for the receipt they put somewhere.
Favorite Dish: Mexican Chicken (Large 9.75LE) - if you are unfamiliar of Egyptian food, this is a safe bet.
Roasted Chicken Meal (1/4 for 12.00LE) - It comes with small salad and rice.
Foul (1.00LE) - Refried beans in the pita bread. Good size and price for easy snack.
